Dedicated to Mrs. Di Angelo. Your headcannons inspired my to write my own fanfic. You are a hero and a gryffindor because you fight your enemy so bravely, and I'm sure, like all other heros, you will win.

Percy was not having a good day.
Everyone at camp seemed to be ignoring him for some reason. Whenever Percy tried to talk to Jason, the latter would fly away. Leo was working on something in the forges, and would start using the electric drill when Percy came into the room and say he couldn't hear him. Frank kept beating up dummies to a pulp in the arena and doing such a good job of it that Percy was afraid to go near him, lest he got beaten up too. Everybody else was also busy doing one thing or the other.
And worst of all was Annabeth. The first time Percy went to see her was in her cabin, where she was on Daedalus's laptop. Knowing her so well, Percy knew that she would not answer him with her eyes glued to brilliant inventions. So he decided to return later. When he went the second time, Annabeth was not in her cabin, so he went on a mission to find her. He spotted her by the strawberry fields talking something over with Piper. The moment started towards her yelling "Hey Wise Girl!", Piper ran away and Annabeth, looking around and seeing him, gave him a weak smile and said absently that she needed to go do something and went after Piper. Percy stopped in his tracks. Did he do or say anything that insulted the whole camp without knowing it. He racked his brains while walking back. All he remembered was after campfire yesterday, he said goodnight to everyone and kissed Annabeth and everything was great. And when he woke up this morning, everybody seemed to hate him.
Percy sighed and threw himself into the lake. He just sat there for some time talking to fish and a naiad, which was quite boring since the naiads would only gossip and the fish talked about how seaweed was getting so expensive, so after a while he just got out of the lake, completely dry, as usual. He was walking towards his cabin when he heard a voice he recognized. He hid behind the first bush he saw. He saw two pairs of feet walking slowly. And the voice he recognized was saying:
"I want this to be a secret, Brandon, just between you and me. I don't know what Percy would do if he knew..."
Percy's heart skipped a beat. That was Annabeth's voice.
"My lips are sealed." Percy recognized Brandon Collins, from Cabin Ten, the one that all the girls were crazy about. All the girls except Annabeth, Percy used to think, but apparently he was wrong.
After they were gone, Percy walked around in a daze. Annabeth is cheating on me he thinks. Percy felt like a little kid. He just wanted to go to his mom like he used to whenever he got expelled from a school. He would sit in her lap while he told her what happened then she would carry him up and place him on the kitchen counter as she made his favorite blue chocolate chip cookies to console him. But he couldn't do that now. First off, his mother was miles away in her apartment with Paul. Secondly, Percy was too big to sit in her lap now. Everything seemed so wrong in the world. His mother wasn't there, his friends were ignoring him, and his girlfriend was cheating on him.
Percy felt like his head would explode if he just stayed there. So he ran, and ran, and ran. He wasn't even running in any particular direction, but he ended up at the beach anyway. The sun was setting and the whole sky was orange. Percy plopped himself on the sand and let the soothing waves calm him down as he watched the sun sink further and further down in the sky. Funny. He never really thought of the sky as comforting before. He always thought that that was where he should never go because he had an uncle who hated him up there. After what seemed like hours, Percy came back to his thoughts with a determined attitude. If his friends didn't want to talk to him, then he didn't need them. He could make other friends. And if his girlfriend was cheating on him, well then... She would regret it.
As he was walking to his cabin, Percy spotted Drew. If Annabeth was cheating on Percy with Drew's brother, then Percy would cheat on Annabeth with Brandon's sister.
Percy never liked Drew. She was always mean to everyone and made a point of showing that she thought Silena was a traitor. Also, she never gave Percy a second glance until after he saved Olympus from Kronos. But he knew that now she has a huge crush on him so this should be easy.
"Hey Drew"
"Hey Percy"
Silence. They just stared at each other.
Then Drew started it.
She quickly closed in the space between them, and Percy leaned in. Their lips were inches apart, almost touching, when -
"PERCY JACKSON!"
Both Percy and Drew whipped their heads around to see Annabeth fuming. The firelight in the brazier was the only source of light, and illuminated on Annabeth made her look positively daunting. Drew squeaked and ran away screaming.
Percy straightened up and looked Annabeth in the eyes, which had mixed emotions; anger, rage, disappointment, disbelief, and... tears? Why would she be crying? She was the one who started all of this.
Annabeth sniffed and tried to blink the tears away.
"Follow me" she said
Percy did, then he realized that she was leading him to his own cabin. She opened the door and went in, Percy at her heals. It was dark, Percy was about to turn on the light when -
"SURPRISE!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!"
"Birthday?" asked Percy blankly
Every single one of his friends was there, including all of the seven, and a few others from camp.
"Yeah Percy, it is August 18! Why do you think we were all ignoring you today?" Smiled Jason
"Hell, every time I saw you today, I thought I was going to burst out laughing." Said Leo
"Yeah, Percy" Annabeth's eyes were burning "Happy Birthday"
Percy mentally smacked himself on the head. Annabeth was turning away, he had to do something.
Without thinking, Percy grabbed her arm and pulled her closer to him. He had one hand on the small of her back and he leaned in, about to kiss her. Annabeth put a finger on his lips to stop him.
"I thought you hated Drew." She said
"I thought you hated Brandon" Percy countered
"Brandon?" Annabeth looked confused "I never did anything with Brandon"
"Yeah, I understand that now. But when I heard you talking to him... I thought you and him were...um... you know..."
Annabeth gave an exasperated sigh and shook her head. At that moment Brandon came in holding a huge blue cake covered with fondant seaweeds and fish with "Happy Birthday Seaweed Brain" iced on top.
Huh. That's what she was telling Brandon.
"So, you thought I was cheating on you so decided to do the same?"
"Hehe. Come on Annabeth, you won't really hold it against me would you? It's not my fault that I have seaweed brain, right?"
Annabeth took a moment "No, guess not, seeing as it's in your genes, and since apparently the seaweed gene is more dominant than your-never mind. Let's just forget anything ever happened. Happy Birthday Seaweed Brain"
Then she kissed him. Finally. Percy alive again.
"I'm still going to punish Drew for almost kissing you, though"
Percy smiled.
"Be my guest, Wise Girl"
