Another Saturday night has come and Y/N planned on spending it curled up with Netflix and junk food. That was until her best friend walked through the door of her apartment."You're coming to a party with me tonight." Y/B/F says, not offering room for rejection.
"Ugh but why?" Y/N groans.
"Because it's finally summer and you haven't properly been to a party in months. And me and Colby got invited to one so were bringing you with." She states, grabbing Y/N's hand and pulling her towards the bedroom. They walk in and Y/N collapses on the bed while Y/B/F walks into her closet to search for an outfit. About ten minutes later she emerges with an outfit Y/N hadn't worn in at least a year (above). She goes into the bathroom to change and walks out, slowly.
"Are you sure about this?" Y/N asks hesitantly.
"Bitch you look amazing! Now come on and let me do your hair and makeup!" Y/B/F says pulling out her makeup kit. She sits Y/N down at the desk and begins to curl Y/N's hair in loose curls. Afterwards she does Y/N's makeup (above) and accessorizes. Y/B/F looks down at her phone and sees that it's 9 o'clock. She texts Colby that they're ready and he responds saying he'll be there in a few minutes.
~~~~~Time Skip to Party~~~~~
As Colby pulls up to the house Y/N can't help but feel a little bit of her anxiety kick in. Being friends with Y/B/F always pulled her a little out of her introverted state, as Y/B/F was always making new friends. But then when Y/B/F met Colby, they were dragged into the social world of YouTube making social events a common thing. Y/B/F learned to thrive in the new environment with Colby by her side but Y/N was pulled along for the ride. She didn't fully hate it, she just wasn't always the most comfortable with it. Y/N stays close to Y/B/F as they walk through the door of the house and the smell of alcohol engulfs her. The room is loud and crowded with people dancing while some couples line the walls making out.
"Hey guys, over here!" Y/N looks to the next room where Sam and Elton are waving them over. The three of them walk over to see them playing beer pong with two other guys.
"Aww Y/N. Are you good?" Sam asks, giving her a side hug. She nods and smiles at him.
"Okay, Colby and Y/B/F are up next with Heath and Zane." Elton says. Y/B/F walks over to Y/N and asks if she'll be okay while she plays.
"Yeah go kick ass. I'll be over here watching." Y/N says laughing as she sees the competitive side come out of her best friend. She stands off to the side while Sam brings her a cup of something to drink.
"Thanks." She says, taking a sip and cringing at the taste. Sam just chuckles a bit.
"Still not a fan of parties?" He asks.
"Is it that obvious?" She laughs.
"A little bit. But hey I'll be back in a minute. I gotta go grab Kat." He says patting her shoulder and running off to find his girlfriend. Y/N continues to watch the game along with her best friend. Y/B/F sinks the ball into another cup sending her and Colby into the lead. She cheers as Colby kisses the side of her head. Y/N smiles at the interaction, happy for her best friend. She couldn't have asked for a better boyfriend for her, she just wishes she could find her somebody to treat her just as well sometimes. While shes lost in thought watching the couple and cringing at the taste of her drink, she doesn't notice someone approach her.
"They have better stuff than Jack if that's not your thing." The stranger says, regarding the face she makes towards her drink. She looks up to see a boy wearing all black t-shirt and skinnies with a dad hat and red vans.
"I'm David." He says, putting his hand out for her to shake.
"Y/N." She says introducing herself.
"Friend of the bride or groom?" David asks jokingly. Y/N chuckles and point to Y/B/F and Colby.
"Ahhh Trap House gang. So you know Elton?" He asks.
"Yeah, sadly." She says laughing. David joins in. Suddenly a whole bunch of people start yelling as Colby and Y/B/F win the game. Y/N cringes as the room seems to get louder, and David notices.
"Hey you wanna go somewhere a bit quieter?" He asks. She just nods. He grabs her hand and starts pulling her out of the room, taking her towards the backyard. He pulls her off to the side where there's a swing set up. They sit down and turn so they're somewhat facing each other.
"Better?" He asks.
"Much. Thanks." She says smiling at him.
"No problem. So Y/N, what has brought you to the glorious state of California?" He asks in a posh accent, making her laugh.
"How do you know I'm not from here?" She asks quizzically.
"You seem different. In a good way, of course. Something just says you're not from around here." He says, grabbing her hand and smiling. She looks down and can't help but smile. Something about him just seems so right.
Three hours. That's how long they had been talking to each other. Y/N was about three drinks in, from the switch David had made for her to something that tasted so much better. She wasn't drunk in any sense. She only had enough to get her a little more in her comfort zone and actually open up. Now she and David were back inside with their friends as a new song came on (play song).
"Y/N come dance!" Y/B/F yells from the floor. Y/N looks at David and puts out her hand, silently questioning him to come. He takes it and smiles, pulling her towards their group. They run in and start jumping around, laughing.
"What happened to not being a party person?" David yells to her over the music.
"I'm not. You just make them fun." She yells back smiling. They slowly make their way closer as Y/N suddenly stops. David stops too, asking if she's okay. Y/N grabs David's face and pulls him just a few inches away. "I like that you're broken and lonely like me. Maybe it makes me a fool but I could be lonely with you." She says to him. He smiles and kisses her.
"I like the sound of that." He kisses her again and pulls her back to dancing and having fun. In that moment she decides maybe parties aren't so bad anymore.
