Present

Lannan knew Rose was back.

He didn't need to be told.

He woke up the first day she was back in Australia with a pit in his stomach and he just knew. They'd always had that odd connection from the first day they met. He often sensed she was going to walk in a room before she actually did.

He didn't know what hurt worse, the knowledge that Rose was back or the fact that she hadn't told him she was back.

He knew they'd have to face each other eventually, as half of her furniture was still in his house.

Past

"Rose, where are we going to put this couch?" I already have three giant bean bags?" Lannan grunted as he helped carry the oversized couch into the house.

"Well, the bean bags can go into the game room down the hall. My couches can go where they belong, in the living room." Rose laughed from her supervising position in the kitchen.

"Honeeeeeeyyyyy," He whined, "I love my bean bags!"

"I mean, I guess I could just rearrange the living room but I doubt this will all match."

"Maybe we leave one bean bag in the living room? So you have somewhere to sit?"

"Fine, fine."

Rose moving in had added a bit of organization into his former bachelor pad of a home. She brought with her, actual dishes, actual cups, and actual silverware.

Real couches, something she called a coffee table, and a real kitchen table also came with her.

The first time she had walked into his house she couldn't hold back a grin. "How do you live here? You have no furniture."

"I do just fine with me and my Willeh." He laughed. "Who needs furniture anyways?"

The dog in question was running at their feet, barking in excitement and Rose scooped him up.

He wiggled in her arms, licking all over her face while she laughed.

"Someday when you move in, you'll bring furniture with you."

"You sure do make a lot of assumptions about our future." Rose winked at him. "In our future, you're probably going to have to find a new home for.....that."

"You mean my R2-D2?"

"No, the other robot in your living room." She giggled. "That's actually so cool."

"Well, I do have a project you could help me with."

Present

Lannan looked over at the R2-D2 robot that still stood in the corner of their living room, despite Rose's protests.

Rose had been a good sport the day he'd sprung the project on her, helping him order his costume and wig.

Past

"LANNAN! YOUR COSTUME IS HERE!"

Lannan came bounding down the stairs, taking them two steps at a time.

"Jesus Christ, you look like a kid on Christmas," Rose snickered as he snatched the package from her.

He ripped open the package and held the white garment up, "I'm going to go change, you position him where he needs to be to get the best light!"

Rose shook her head and laughed, moving the robot into a corner of the living room with more light.

She'd do anything to make Lannan happy.

Even if it meant taking 783 pictures of her boyfriend dressed up as Princess Leia, buns and all.

Granted, the payback for making her take so many pictures and only using four of them in his post, was a nice dinner out.

While he was still wearing the Leia costume.

Rose got the sweet satisfaction of watching the waitress squirm as she took their order. Lannan, of course, felt no shame at all.

Present

Lannan dragged the R2-D2 into the broom closet.

It turned out that at this rate, he'd have to move out of the house that did nothing but remind him of her.
