(ARTWORK ABOVE IS NOT MINE, IT IS BY sanders-sides-fantasy ON TUMBLR)

A young teen runs down a seemingly empty street. Tears streamed down his face as his dark makeup ran down due to the tears. He wipes the liquid from his eyes, smudging his eyeshadow across his face. He was running from his home as two pairs of giant black wings with dark purple tips fading into a light purple at the very end. They flapped as he ran, making him faster. He wore a black hoodie with purple flannel patches sewn onto it. Underneath he wore a dark purple shirt with black ripped jeans paired with black boots. His hair was a dark brown with faded purple at the ends. His dark brown eyes filled with more tears as he slammed his eyelids closed, running blindly. As he was running, another teen, around the same age watched him run by his house. He closed his eyes and when he opened them, he shot up and ran after the boy, feeling bad for him, he saw the event that had caused the emo teen to run.

A group of seniors had been picking on him and when one kicked his back, the boy's wings shot out causing him to cry out in pain and shock. The seniors saw the wings and starting calling him a freak and other names. This teen, Patton Ray, raced after the winged boy, trying desperately to catch up. When he did, he quickly ducked in front of the emo, causing him to run into Patton. The emo, Virgil Maddox, fell back but was caught by his wings, pushing him back up. Virgil looked around, confused, and dazed. Patton revealed himself, looking worriedly at the emo in front of him. Virgil's eyes widened in shock. "Wha... Were you... Invisible?" The emo said quietly. Patton nodded, not saying anything as he gently grabbed Virgil's wrist, closing his eyes once more before opening them and looking into Virgil's dark brown eyes with his light brown ones. "Follow me!" he said beginning to drag Virgil to god knows where. "Where are you taking me?" Virgil asked as he was dragged through a short patch of woods. Patton replied, "Um, I honestly don't know... But I heard that there's a university two towns over. It's a private academy but hopefully, they'll take us in. I have some family who works and goes there if that's anything."

"Woah Woah wait. You're just gonna take me in like this?? We don't know each other! I have wings! And you were invisible!"

  "We're invisible now to kiddo."

  "What?!"

"Yeah! We are both Invisible! And I'm Patton! Patton Ray!"

"Um... I'm Virgil... Virgil Maddox... Why are you helping me?"

Patton stopped. "I saw what happened... Those boys... It was so cruel. I couldn't stand watching it... but I couldn't help... I feel so bad for just being a bystander. So I'm doing something now!" Virgil stayed still, silent. A soft smile faded onto his face. "Thank you..." He said quietly. Patton beamed, beginning to drag Virgil again. Hours go by and they finally reach the academy Patton was talking about. They were hungry and tired, the sun was setting. They walked up slowly and Virgil hid his wings as Patton revealed them and kept a hold on Virgil's hand.

Two boys were sitting outside, One was wearing a black button-up and a blue striped tie paired with dark blue jeans and converse, his hair was brown with dark blue tips, similar to Patton's light brown hair with light blue tips. He wore glasses and was arguing with the other boy, who was wearing a red shirt with a red and white letterman jacket over it paired with light blue jeans and high top vans. His hair was a lighter shade of brown than Logan's and Virgil's, but not as light as Patton's, and the tips were a deep red. Patton and Virgil slowly approached the two, Patton taking the lead with Virgil hiding behind him. The two boys looked up at the Emo and the Softie. Patton smiles and waves tiredly. "Hello, I'm Patton Ray, and this is Virgil Maddox. We're from a few towns over and I have family who works here, I was wondering if you could help us in so we can talk with the Principal?" The two stood up, the one with glasses was the tallest and he spoke up, "Salutations, I am Logan Rogers. This is Roman Alexander. We can allow you in and direct you to the Principal's Office. Do you mind telling us why you are here without parents or why you are here at 8:00 pm?" Patton looked around nervously, replying quietly, "We ran from home...." Roman's eyes widened, "How come?? That sounds awful!" Virgil quietly said, "It's none of your business..." Patton patted Virgil's shoulder gently, comforting him. Logan nodded and started to walk towards the door.

When they reached the door Logan opened it and allowed Patton and Virgil in, walking in after them. Roman rolls his eyes and lets himself in. Logan leads them to the Principals office and allows them in. The Principal looked up and smiled. "Hello! How may I help you? I don't recognize you two as any of my students." Patton and Virgil looked at each other before looking at the Principal, Patton saw the Principals name on the nameplate that was on his desk. "Mr. Thomas Sanders, we don't go here. We are from a few towns over. We ran away from home due to...., not safe environments. We were wondering if we could stay here for a bit?" Thomas was taken aback by what Patton said. "Of course you stay here! You poor things! Roman and Logan can help you get settled in. They currently share a dorm, but there is an extra dorm across from them so you two may stay there. If you need anything, just go across the hall to Logan and Roman. Here are the keys to the dorm." He handed them both a key and gestured towards Logan and Roman. Logan had his arms crossed, and Roman was smiling. Patton and Virgil walked over and began their new life.
