The sky was clear, not even wisps of white, weightless clouds where to be seen, accompanying the endless blue sky above was the blazing ball of fire labelled as the sun, radiating heat below. Millions of grains of sand, rested, tickling the feet passers by, connected was the calm water not a single wave in sight, a boat could be seen in the the distance bobbing up and down; up and down. The gentle cawing of seagulls filled the air, joined with sound of mumbling people, some resting on the golden sand, some dipping their ankles in the cool, clear water and some in waist high, splashing the refreshing water at each other trying to cool off. To everyone it seemed to be the perfect summers day, oh but how wrong the were.
It was just turned one o'clock when disaster struck. The sun was high in the sky shining down on everyone's backs when a high pitch blood curdling scream echoed through the beach, coming from the direction of the ocean, Splitting the water and reaching the surface was and object... a shark fin.
It was in the shape of a point, faded grey washed over the surface of the fin, chunks were missing and it was heavily scarred, it was obvious that this creature had been in some nasty fights and won. The eerie shadow of the shark could be seen, inches beneath the surface, its tail swishing, eyes set determinedly on its prey in front of him.
By this point people were trying to escape the once soothing water. Everyone shouting, crying and pushing past one another trying to get to shore, within a few seconds nearly everyone was safe on land, except one.
This girl was trying to escape the suffocating water closing in on her, she couldn't give herself the strength to swim to safety as she was frozen with fear. She was desperately flailing about in the water legs kicking in all different directions arms waving in the air, screaming as loud as her lungs would let her at this moment in time, she saw the shadow inching closer, the beat of her own heart thumping in her ears, but then the shadow disappeared. It was no longer coming closer, it was no longer even visible! 'Did it just go away?' She thought 'that was a close on...'
SPLASH!!!
The sound of her body being ripped under water vibrates through the air, the feel of sharp teeth plunging into her skin, made her scream louder than she ever done before. She was trying to free her leg from the sharks strong grasp, but that was only causing even more damage.
The onlookers had horrified expressions etched upon all of their faces, many were crying, others just stood in shock mouths hanging open and parents were shielding their kids eye from the nightmarish event happening right in-front of their very eyes.
The once clear water was now being tinted a heavy red, from the oozing blood coming from the gruesome injury, she wasn't even sure if her leg was still there any more, biting her lip till it bleed and blood ran down her chin, she had never felt as much pain in her life. She saw the shadow reappear. Returning to her. As quick as a flash she felt her side be bitten, it felt as if thousands of blunt knifes where thrusting themselves into her side, she vaguely heard the scream of horror that erupted through the witnesses, then darkness welcomed her, and she knew no more.
