Blight: /noun/ A form of disease or corruption; used in the context of demonic corruption currently.
I finally travel out from the Demon Lords palace, effortlessly dispatching wave after wave of mindless peons. The Gate to the Underworld has been purified, destroying it would have been impossible, but at least I was able to prevent it from summoning the spawn of lesser demons to invade the kingdom.
Deep black soot cover the area. Demons of all sizes lay dead on the grave burial grounds, by my hands. I casually walk out of the dimensional field I placed around the cemetery in case anyone was to see the destruction within it, hiding the truth from mortal eyes. I see the prince storm closer towards the battlegrounds with a large army of Elven and Human warriors spanning a couple hundred thousand units. His armor glistened in the shine of the sun's rays barely peeking over the cloudy skies.
He smiles proudly at me as I look on to his army.
"Quite an Impressive army you have brought yourself, Your Highness."
"Indeed it is, Misthios."
"However, that itself won't be necessary anymore, you can quickly relieve them of their duties. I have taken care of your Kingdoms Strife. They do seem awfully frightened to face such a devastating foe."
"That's impossible! Show me your proof!"
"But of course, Your Highness." I lead him to the cemetery where it looks to be in pristine condition.
"Give me but moment, Your Highness." I pull my staff off my back and begin mumbling a magical incantation, and the image of the cemetery begins to flash and distort before fading away into the true field I have battled on.The all look in shock as they see the bodies of countless demons scattered across the ground, and a few newly singed corpses.
"Ah, it seem that my trap has worked...But no worries, it won't affect regular mortals." I see the Elven Princess Lilliana slowly get off her horse with a slightly caution yet worried look on her face.
"Are...Are you sure it won't hurt us?...." I give a light chuckle.
"I assure you, Princess, this trap only works on demons. You should have no troubles crossing in and out of here safely""A-alright. I'll trust you." The Princess begins to inch forward and the Prince places his hand onto my shoulder.
"You've done well, Misthios. We shall celebrate this victory in your honor. Although I'm quite disappointed I wasn't allowed a pleasure of fighting off the hoards myself." I chuckle as the Prince says that.
"Anyways, how could you have possibly cleared out an entire Demon stronghold in a matter hours? It hasn't even been a day since you've entered?!"
"I have my ways, Your Highness. Anyways, I'd like to discuss payment for my endeavors." I reply.
"Ah yes, of course! For a feat such as this, I'll give whatever boon within my power."
"Of course, Your Highness. I don't suppose you've happened to have a stockpile of Bloodgems? They're quite hard to aquire but they're of importance to me."
"Ah, unfortunately we have not come across any Bloodgems. They are quite difficult to aquire."
"Ah, very well, Your Highness. Then would you be in possession of fine Diamonds?"
"Of course, we have much in our possession. However, we'd have to inquire about them within the treasury. Let us be off, shall we?"
"Thank you, Your Highness." On our way to the castle treasury, the entire town if boisterous and filled with glee, as they celebrate the defeat of the Demons.
As I collect my reward, I place all Five Diamonds in my hand and begun pouring as much magical energy into it at possible. The action drains me of all my energy and the color of my face pales, and a severe fatigue washes over me.
