Sunday 12th September - The day before Doomsday
Yoongi was the first to wake.
The barn was eerily quiet that day, like the world was holding its breath. Not a single creature besides him stirred as he stood up silently.
Walking slowly outside, he breathed in the cool morning air and sighed.
It had come too fast.
He could hardly believe that tomorrow, all of this would be gone...
The birds singing above his head, the grass shooting beneath his feet, the gentle breeze brushing his face..
Soon, there would be nothing left.
The silence was deafening him - so much so that he rubbed his ears, desperate for some form of noise.
As if his prayers were answered, there was a quiet scuffle behind him and he turned slowly to see Jimin standing in the door of the barn.
"It's quiet..." The younger breathed softly.
"Too quiet." Yoongi agreed as the younger came and stood by his side.
The pair looked out over the field, as if burning pictures of it into their minds.
"I can't believe that we won't be here in a day or two..." Jimin gulped. "It feels so long ago that we met... and Hobi hit you with the car... and you were lying on our sofa sipping a drink I made you..."
Yoongi laughed.
"And you lent me your phone with the kitten case on it." He smiled.
Jimin chuckled and sighed.
"Yeah... the phone..."
Another silence fell between them, but rather than pained, this one felt more longing.
"I would give anything just to spend more time with you..." The younger said softly. "To laugh with you, cry with you... there is so much I wanted to show you and tell you."
Yoongi turned to Jimin and took his hand.
"Just value the time we have left." He whispered. "We have all the time in the world."
He lent forward and kissed Jimin's forehead gently before ruffling his hair.
"Anyway - we still have a whole day don't we?" He smiled. "Don't hit me with the soppy stuff just yet. Save it for the meteor."
Jimin laughed sadly and put his hands in his pockets, looking around at the pitiful scene.
Autumn leaves were drifting down from the stick-like trees around them - in almost every tome of gold and brown and orange and yellow you could think of.
"Did you know, if you catch a falling Autumn leaf, you will share eternal happiness with whoever is walking with you?" Jimin asked.
Yoongi scoffed.
"Are we in an anime now?" He chuckled. "Or is that a K-drama thing you picked up?"
"Actually neither." Jimin smiled gently. "My mother used to tell me that. She would always catch one for me and we would take it home and soak it before using a cookie cutter and taking a mini shape out of it. My favourite one was a leaf she caught me on my birthday. It was lovely golden brown, and she soaked it and cut a heart out of it before drying it again."
