Chapter 8

Nishi-Umeda/Osaka

9.00am JST

I STEP out of my hotel room at Hilton Hotel,Osaka.Mahone had money,and he used it everywhere,especially on his flight crew,whom he expressed with much emphasis that the people that were going to serve him as he travelled around the world were not going to be a bunch of robots with their own wills.(No Terminator reference intended)

What I lived in in Osaka was pure heaven.The room was a suite which I shared with the other flightdeck crew that i flew here with,their beings still asleep,wrapped up in their covers back in their individual rooms.Actually,one of them,Josh,was beside me now as we headed downstairs to go grab breakfast together.

We found ourselves in a familiar restaurant,Sarabeth's.Even though I grew up in LA,my parents were divorced and as a child,I found myself being taken all the way to New York with Tanya,to visit my mother's parents,who were living there after retirement.My favourite restaurant at the time,growing up in the nineties,with the Pokemon theme song I kept muttering under my breath wondering how EXACTLY Ash could defeat all the gyms so easily while I couldn't even get pass the third gym,using my Walkman everywhere I went,except for the obvious.What,you thought I was even gonna bring my Walkman into the shower? Hell no. My parents would kill me,followed by me voluntarily on suicide roll. 

Anyway,Stepping into that restaurant gave me memories,and I mean like real vivid memories.I was reminded of eating the jam that i slathered with large amounts on the french toast,was legendary. Immediately after the waitress showed us to our seats,I knew what i wanted,and using the English menu,placed my order of a classic Eggs Benedict,with another order of the Fat And Fluffy French Toast,and a nice cup of Caffe Latte to top it off for my meal.The other pilot,Sam got a Goldie Lox and a cup of Americano.

Our food arrived and we ate while discussing all the topics under the sun.

"Hey,is that a wedding band there?You engaged?"

"Yeah,I proposed just before this flight.She said yes,and,here we are."

"Whaddya mean,'here we are'?"

I grinned.

"If she said no,I wouldn't be here.Instead I would be slaughtered by her,for even having the nerve to suggest it in the first place,wouldn't I?"

We burst into raucous laughter from what I said.

"Women are such ferocious creatures."Sam chuckled.

At that point I could not answer him,for various punches swooped down on my head and back.Alas,the same fate happened to Sam,him suffering a worse fate.His head was pushed on to his plate and someone swooped down on him,raining punches on him.

"HOW DARE YOU SAY WOMEN ARE FEROCIOUS?HERE I AM,YOUR WONDERFUL FEROCIOUS GIRLFRIEND TRYNA SURPRISE YOU AND THE NEXT THING YOU DO IS MAKE AN OFFHAND COMMENT ABOUT MY GENDER!"The speaker turned out to be Sam's girlfriend,Erin.

"And you too,Magnus! I am soo going to tell Dana about this.Oh,she's going to really slaughter you!"

"What did I do,Tanya."I retorted coolly."I don't remember saying anything bad,apart from stating the obvious."

We both ducked as Erin's hand swiped past,nearly missing my face.

"Erin,ERIN!"

"WHADDYA WANT? I'M KINDA PREOCCUPIED WITH KILLING THIS DOUCHEBAG HERE!"

"You need to chill out.Use your words,remember?"

"OK,I need to keep my cool,because later.."

"Later...what?"Tanya was rarely timid.

"LATER,I'm going to cook him a nice dinner."Erin stared at Sam with disgust.

Tanya and I left Sarabeth's together,planning to see the sights of Osaka.That is,we planned to,until my phone rang.

"Bad news Fox,I need you at your hotel immediately."

It was the assistant mission controller,Waller Jonas.

"What..?But I was.."

"No time to explain.Get your ass back to Hilton immediately!Go to room 2358 once you reached!And bring Special Correspondent Tanya with you,too.Something cropped up.

"Yessir,right away sir!"

I hung up.

"What?"Tanya looked concerned.

I looked my sister in the eye.

"I don't know.We need to get to Hilton,now!"
