Reno

It's been about 6 months since the festival. We are going on a trip to calafornia to go see the beach.

We have been in the car for about 10 hours to get to calafornia. When we got there we had lots if fun. I ate a fried octopus. It tasted funny though. All of us played at the beach and Carden found a jellyfish that looked like a big nasty booger.

We started to go back home when mom sees a flea market. The food was good. I liked all of the little shops. Jacalyn bought a toy dog, Carden bought a plastic sword, and Emily and me bought some kettle corn.

Everyone was starting to get tired again so we started to head out to the car. Joseph asked my mom to stop but she apparently didn't stop fast enough for him. ( about 2 sec. ) He then blew his top. Starting yelling at my mom about that he wanted to get a hat and that she wasn't listening well enough.

Mom told him that if he wants a ride home he has to shut up. He did, for the first 3 min.. Then they started yelling at each other. Joseph said lots of things about my dad that wernt true, but really hurt my feelings. He continued this all the way to Reno, Nevada.

We stopped at a buffet to get some dinner. The line was long. When my mom looked at the prices she told Joseph that we didn't have enough money to pay for it.

Since he was all ready mad he just exploded. When my mom started heading to the front desk to get a room he stood in front of her and said," Why arn't we eating in there! You said that we don't have enough money!"

"Yes joe, I did say that." my mom said, "if we were to go there it would be ether more or the right amount of $300. If we rent a room we can get pizza and also have a place to sleep."

"NO! NO,NO,NO! WE ARN'T SAYING HERE! YOU ARE MY WIFE AND I SAY THAT WE GO GET OUR MEAL FROM THAT BUFFET!" Joe yelled. His face was red as a sunburn. Looked like he was going for murder.

You might think that it was crazy for somebody to be freaking out at a buffet, but he obviously didn't think so. I was only 12 but I had about as much embarrassment as an adult world in that situation. By then people in that line were starting to stare at us. Let's pause at this point do that I can give you a little visual on where we are.

We are on the second of the 3rd floored casino. Next to the casino area or building is a hotel. It has many floors of course. Where we are standing there are 2 escalators. One going up and one going down. On the 1st floor you walk in and to your right is the front desk for the hotel part of the casino. To your left there is another escalator going to one of the other restaurants. Oh! I almost forgot infront of you is the casino part. And more to the left is more of the casino. There is a walkway through it so miners don't get on the actual casino floor. Now back to the story.

Joseph is freaking out, people are looking, the tension is rising, but yet there are no security guards nor police officers. Mom starts to head to the escalators that are behind us.

"Come on guys, let's go" she says. She ushers us down the escalators, as she is doing this she is handing me the phone and whispers to me to, when my siblings and I are a ways away to call my grandpa.

Joseph sees this and starts to rocket towards us. We are now on the 1st floor. About 20 yards away from the front desk. He tells at my mom, "What did you tell her! There are no secrets in this family! No secrets!!"

My mom turns around, now ushering us behind her. Like a human wall. " I am done Joe." She says sternly. He doesn't like that.

"What did you tell that little $@#& Marie."

" It's none of your business Joe." While they were yelling at each other I spotted a bench so that my siblings can sit down. I told Emily to take the others over there while I was going to support mom. They sat down and I had forgotten moms phone in the back of my pocket. Mom was asking a guard for help and Joseph seeing this as a chance he smaked my arm. Not enough to get a bad bruise but a red mark where his hand was.

The guard then ushered him out of the casino. 5 more so appeared and tried to help us. Out stupid the room I saw Joseph behind the escalators I warned the last that was talking to us and 2 of them escorted him out with a police officer.

A big guard took us to the hotel across the casino. He didn't leave then he was watching us and making sure we were okay. While mom was getting a room she told me to stand watch behind her and be back to back to her.

We got our room, the guard escorted us there also then left after he double checked that we were okay. 2 men then came asked questions looked at the hands print on my arm. Wrote it down and left. We ordered some room service and then we heard a knock at our for. Mom it to find that some police officers had brought us some abandoned toys and phone chargers. Mom said thank you and yeah. But then we got a call, mom answered it and her face turned white. She mouthed to the officers that it was him. The officers said something on there speakers and stayed there until I don't know when. I feel asleep before they left.

In the morning we went to the airport and while we were waiting we played duck duck goose and hand sanitizer.

We never saw Joseph again until one horrible day.
