HE'S DIFFERENT
He looks no different,
But his behavior stands out.
He hums and he rocks;
He flaps and he screams.
The world around him clashes in his mind;
The slightest change makes him scream and cry.
He’s in his own world and he doesn’t understand.
Emotions, language—they’re all beyond his comprehension.
He can be difficult and he won’t communicate;
He makes the largest fuss when things become different.
It’s a struggle to take care of him and to take him out.
People stare and they whisper, and they just make you feel ashamed.
It’s hard, it’s a struggle; that’s guaranteed,
But you’re the one he trusts, even if he can’t show his love.
He’s a God-given treasure to cherish and hold,
And one day you will look back and know he was truly a joy.
