The Boy Next Door

Chapter 2

 So yesterday we got cable and groceries, then today Johnny and I went to the store and got some supplies we need to start school tomorrow. I am nervous to start school, I don't really do well with new things. Maybe I am just over reacting about starting a new school. My mom already started her new job and she seems to enjoy it so far. Johnny seems to be less nervous than me but he is still nervous. All day Johnny has been running around the house making sure he has everything he needs for school but me I have everything already set in my room. We have to get to school a little early tomorrow because Johnny needs to talk to the football coach about joining the team.

When I woke up I immediately got dressed and went downstairs to eat breakfast. I ate my cereal and realized I haven't seen Johnny yet. I go to his room and knocked on the door, I got no answer so I opened the door slowly and saw that he was still asleep. "Johnny it's time to get up or we'll be late" I say "I'm getting up, give me a few minutes" He says as he rolls over "Okay, I'm going to go finish getting ready" I say. With in twenty minutes I was ready for school, so I sat on the couch in the family room and waited for Johnny to finish getting ready. After what seemed like forever Johnny was finally ready. We got in the car and drove to school.

We got to school about thirty minutes early to go to the office and get our schedules and stuff like that. We were told to wait in the office until school started and that someone is going to show us around school. As we were waiting I started to get lost in my thoughts but someone brought me back to reality when they started calling my name. When I looked up I saw Ms. Neil the secretary looking at me. "This is Mark he'll be showing you around and Johnny this is Eva she'll be showing you around" Ms. Neil says "Why don't we just get shown around together" Johnny asks "Because you guys are in different grades" Ms. Neil says "Oh" Johnny said. Then him and Eva went one way while Mark and I went to the other way.

"So I'm Mark" Mark says as we started walking "I'm Raegan" I say not looking at him "You don't seem to talk much" Mark says "Yeah, not really good around new people or people in general" I say still not looking at him "Well you don't have to be scared around me, I'm just showing you around school and I'm a nice person" He says "That's good to know" I say as a smile forms on my face. The rest of the tour if you want to call it was quiet except for Mark talking about the rooms we passed. The last stop on our tour was my first period which was Ironically was his first period too, which is AP Biology. "Mr. Baker, this is Raegan our new student" Mark says as we walk in "Ah yes, come on in and take a sit, her sit is right next to yours Mark" Mr. Baker says as Mark shows me to my sit. The class didn't bother me at all until Mr. Baker insisted I introduce myself to the class. I got up and told the class my name and something interesting about me like I was told to and when I sat back down I think Mark could tell how nervous I was.

"It's okay, don't be nervous" he says as I bury my face in my hands "How am I not supposed to be nervous, it's my first day at a new school and I've only been in this town for a few days" I say "It's okay just calm down" he says "Do you know how it feels to be somewhere you don't know" I ask him "Actually I do" he says "Oh" I say "I moved here freshman year and I was just as nervous as you, but now I'm on the football team and I'm more comfortable with people" he says "Oh, I didn't know" I say "How would you, I just told you"he says "True" I say and then we went quiet. The rest of class was quiet too.

When class ended Mark insisted he show me to my next class. "So this Mrs. Benson for math" Mark says as we get to the door "Thank you" I say "Hey, Jeno come here" Mark yelled "What's up Mark" Jeno asks walking up us "This is Raegan, she's new here and she has Mrs. Benson with you" Mark says Great another person I have to talk to. I thought. "Oh, hi I'm Jeno" Jeno says "Hi" I say "Well let's get in the classroom" Jeno says 'Okay" I say. When we got in the classroom Jeno introduced me to the teacher showed me to my seat. The class was pretty quiet and nice. I don't know why I was so scared to start a new school.

The first few classes were okay I guess but now it's time for lunch. I have no idea where to sit, Johnny had already become friends with some of the people from the football team and Mark ironically was one of them. I decided to sit by myself at a table in the corner of the cafeteria. I was eating my lunch when this boy sat in front of me. "You must be new" He says "Yeah, is it that obvious" I say "No, not really but you're sitting alone and if you weren't new you would be sitting with someone" He say "Oh" I say "I'm Jaemin" he says "Nice to meet you, I'm Raegan" I say "Cool name" He says "So do you usually eat lunch by yourself" I ask "Oh no I don't, I eat with Jeno" Jaemin says "Oh cool" I say "Yeah, he told me you were new so I decided to come talk to you" he says "Oh, is he still getting lunch or something" I ask "Yeah" he says "Cool" I say and then we sat there for few minutes before Jeno came over.

Jeno sat down next to Jaemin and we just kind of talked about me, which was weird but I guess that's what happen when you move. When lunch end Jeno and Jaemin showed me to my next class which is art. I actually like art, well to a point I do. After art and all my other classes ended I had to meet up with Johnny so we could go to the football field. Johnny has to tryout for the football team and since he is my ride home I have to watch him tryout. I sat down on the bleachers and looked at the field, I saw Mark, Jeno and Jaemin talking. Johnny is talking to the coach. I decided to do my homework while I waited for Johnny to be done. About two hours later Johnny was done, since I had my headphones in I couldn't hear him calling my names so he came and taped me on the shoulder.

As we were walking to the car Mark ran up to me. "Hey Raegan you forgot this on the bleachers" he says handing me my biology notebook "Oh, thank you" I say "See you tomorrow" he says "See ya" I say as he starts to walk his car. Johnny and I made it to our car and left the school. As we were leaving the parking lot the car died. "God damn it" Johnny said. Johnny tried to turn the car on again but it didn't start. Mark stopped his car right next to ours. "Need help" he asked "Yeah, if you don't mind" Johnny says "Not at all" Mark says as he gets out of his car. With in a few minutes Mark and Johnny get the car started and we went home.

When we got home, I went to check the mail. As I was checking the mail I turn to see Mark getting out of his car. Trying not to be seen I start to walk fast towards my house but it didn't work he saw me. "Hey Reagan, I didn't realize you guys were our new neighbors" he says walking towards me. "Yup that's us" I say as we met in the middle of the road. "Cool" he says "I guess so" I say "Well sorry to cut this short but I have to go and work on my homework" Mark says "Yeah. I should probably do the same" I say "Cool" he says and then we went to separate ways. When I got inside I say the mail down on the dining table and went up to my room. A few minutes later Johnny came walking into my room.

" I told you, it wasn't going to be that bad" Johnny says "What do you mean" I ask setting my school books down. "You were worried you weren't going to make friends but it looks like you did" he says "What? Mark? No he just showed me around school that's it" I say "Is that why I saw you talking to him outside?" he asks "He was just telling me that he didn't realize we were his new neighbors" I say "Sure" he says starting to walk out " I swear" I yell as he is basically down the hall now. I went back to my to doing my homework, when I got a text from an unknown number.
