We heard gunshots and we started running, my heart on my throat. Once we got there, I doubt any of us could believe what we were seeing: bodies of dead Grounders in front of us, Murphy standing on one side looking at us with concerned eyes, and Finn with his rifle to Sam's chest. Sam. Octavia started running towards them and I moved after her as Clarke stood there looking at Finn, almost paralyzed.

-    "Sam! Sam! What happened?" –Octavia asked hugging Sam, getting her away from the weapon as I shoved Finn away from her- "Are you okay?"

-    "I'm fine, O." –Sam muttered hugging her back- "I wasn't good enough."

Octavia broke the hug and looked at Sam who was looking at nothing in particular like she had completely zoned out. Right beside Sam was a young kid, dead, on the arms of another Grounder.

-    "Artigas."

Octavia breathed out as she looked at him; she glanced back at me and I nodded, understanding what she meant. She moved to the Grounder's side and I moved towards Sam; she didn't see me walking up to her, it was as if she weren't even there. It worried me.

-    "Sam?" –I softly spoke not to scare her; she blinked a couple of times and focused her attention on me- "Are you hurt?"

-    "I'm sorry." –she whispered- "We tried to stop him but he wasn't listening, I didn't know what to do, I didn't want to kill him so I tried knocking him down but he didn't even flinch. I... I don't know what's... I'm... "

-    "I'm just glad you're okay." –I stroke her cheek and, as soon as my finger touched her skin, a tear fell down her face- "Hey, it's alright, it's not your fault."

-    "It's not alright, Bellamy." –she sighed, her voice trembling- "I failed to stop him and he killed all these innocent people. If we weren't at war earlier, we sure as hell are now." -she looked beside us, to where Octavia was kneeling next to the two Grounders. The older one was looking at Finn with poison in his eyes but, when he laid eyes on Sam, his gaze softened-    "I'm sorry."

Sam's voice was completely broken; the Grounder nodded before looking back down to the dead kid. I had no clue what exactly had gone down, or how I could comfort Sam but, what I knew was that I would not leave her side. What had happened there would come to bite us in the ass but all I cared about at that moment was Sam. My eyes on her as her own moved behind me.

-    "Clarke." -her eyes found mine again, a hint of a smile on her lips- "You found her!"

-    "It's a long story. Not a happy one."

-    "Well, can't say I'm surprised, but I have all the time in the world right now."

I nodded, squeezing her shoulders before standing next to her, both of us looking at Clarke as Finn approached her. Clarke seemed paralyzed, the complete opposite to Finn's demeanor as he stood in front of her. "I found you" was all he said, a scoff falling from Sam's lips.
