I just finish getting ready when I hear knocks on my bedroom door. I walk out of my bathroom and take one last look at my outfit for tonight.
I decided to wear my favorite teal dress. It's fitted at the top and flows out until it stops right above my knees. I also chose a pair of black pumps to go with it. I decided against wearing tons of make up and just wore eyeliner and lip gloss.
I open the door and Jared is standing there. when we look at each other I hear his breath kind of catch in his throat.
"...Hey. You look... amazing." he says with shortened breath to where it sounds like he just ran a marathon.
"You don't look too bad yourself Jare." I smile at him and he smiles back. I can feel my face getting hot.
It is true. He looks great actually. He has a simple outfit which is a grey v-neck t-shirt and black pants. But that outfit bring out his bluish grey eyes and his black hair that looks like it a going to fall over his forehead, but it won't.
I guess I have been staring too long because I can hear Jared chuckle.
Great. I'm blushing again.
"Did I ever say how cute you look when you blush?" He says with ease.
"Uhm..nope." I studder to get the words out. Did he really just say that?
"Well, now I have." He chuckles as he says this. But he almost sounds... nervous?
I don't know what to say. I've known Jared almost all of my life and he's never said anything like this. I'm just an average girl. Brown hair, brown eyes, but I'm kind of tall. He says this stuff to any other girl but never to me, simply because I'm his best friend.
"We should go..." Jared says almost as if he realized I'm not going to say anything else.
"Yeah." I say with uncertainty.
"Liv, we don't have to go if you don't want to. We can just hang at your place."
"No it's fine. I want to go with you."
He smiles. "Okay, then let's go."
I smile back.
"Oh great... Jared?" I say.
"Yeah?" He replies.
"My parents are downstairs..."
We both forgot the whole "sneaking out" aspect of it. We might not even make it to this party.
"I have an idea. Follow my lead." Jared says.
We walk down the stairs outside of my bedroom. We reach the front door when I hear my mom.
"Where are you two going, honey?" She asks.
Jared better come up with a good excuse.
"We were just going to go back to my house and hang out. Is that okay Mrs. Feeney?" He asks with ease.
"Oh yeah that's totally fine!" She says with a little too much enthusiasm.
"Great, thanks. Bye mom!" I yell because this whole time we can't see her. She must be in the living room.
Jared walks us out of the door and to his Mustang. He once again opens the passenger side for me. I get in and then goes over and gets in himself.
"I'm really sorry, Liv." He states to break the silence as we are driving down the road.
"For what? You have nothing to apologize about."
"For making you feel uncomfortable when I called you cute." He says, a slight blush forming on his cheeks.
