"Come get your schedules everyone." the assistant principal, Ms. Bennett said. "Hey Ms. Bennett can we get our schedules?" Angela asked. "Sure. I just need your names." "Connor Mason, Angela Jacobs, Ally Simmons, and Jake Wilson." Ally said taking control. "Here you go guys. Have a nice first day." "Thanks." they said in unison. Ally snatched their schedule before they got to see. "Yay! We have all the same classes!" Ally said excitedly. "Okay. So let's all sit together."Ally continued. "Duh. When don't we." Jake said. "Let's go to class. You don't want to be late for first period English." Angela said.

"Hello class. Welcome to ELA 9 otherwise known as English. I'm Mr.Langley. We're going to go around the class saying out names and our favorite book or type of book. My favorite book is To Kill A Mockingbird. Who would like to go first?" "ME!" Ally yelled. "Okay go ahead." Mr. Langley said. " Okay. My name is Ally and I like romance books." "I'm next!" Angela said. "Okay." Mr. Langley said. "My name is Angela and I like romance and thriller books." "Oh that's nice." Mr. Langley said. "Can I go next?" Jake asked. "Sure. Go ahead."

"I'm Jake and I like to read fairy tails." Jake said. "Well there will be no fairy tail reading in this class room" Mr. Langley said. "I jus read them for inspiration for my drawings, you're looking at a future illustrator here." Jake said optimistically. "He could illustrate the cover for the book I'm writing." Angela said. "You like to write books?" Mr. Langley asked. "Yeah, I just finished one over the summer it's called Cabin Fever, it's a thriller." "Have you published it yet? I know someone who published a book she actually works here. Do you know Ms. Carron?" Mr. Langley asked. "Yes, I'll go talk to her later."

"Can I introduce myself now?" Connor asked. "Yeah, go ahead." "Thank you. My name is Connor and I like to read mystery books." "Good because the first book we'll be reading is a mystery book. I think you'll like it." Mr. Langley said. "Oh cool." Connor said. "Excuse me, girl in the grey hoodie." Mr. Langley said to Nicole. "Oh, sorry." Nicole said. "Wow. It's only 10 minutes into class and you're already that bored." "No, just very tired. is it my turn?" "Yes, say your name and favorite kind of book." "Okay. My name is Nicole and I like romance and supernatural books, but I prefer romance." "Oh like Romeo and Juliet?" "Yeah, but I've read that like 16 times." "Well be prepared to read it again, because you'll be doing an essay on it in this class." "Ugh. Not again." Ally said.

*Meeting in the auditorium for all 9th grade students*

"Well it looks like for the rest of class we'll be hearing the principal mouth." Jake said. "I know right, last year he screamed in my ear as if I was deaf." Angela said. "Alright. No more smack talk about the principal, make your way to the auditorium." Mr. Langley said. "He seems like a cool teacher." Ally said. "Yeah, Mr. Langley is pretty cool." Jake said as they were all entering the auditorium.

"Hi, guys what's up." Nicole said. "Nothing. Why are you talking to us? We don't like you." Ally said. "Hey don't be mean. She might turn into a creature again." Jake said with a chuckle. "Ha. Ha. Ha. Very funny Jake." Nicole said sarcastically. "So Jake how's life going with everything going on?" Nicole asked. "What do you mean 'everything going on' ?" Ally asked concerned. "It's nothing." Jake said as he turned to Nicole.

"Something is going on with Jake!" Angela whispered to Connor. " I know, but I hope it's nothing major." Connor said. "Yeah, me too."

"Hello. Is this thing on?" principal Quinn says testing the microphone. "Okay, the schedules got mixed up, so I'm going to tell you what classes you're going to have. Everyone who was just in Mr. Langley's class go to Ms. B and she'll give you your new schedule. Leave. Now!" he said.

"At least we still have classes together." Angela said. "Yeah, let's go to class. I'm gonna sit next to Jake and make sure he don't so anything stupid." Ally said.

"Excuse me, pardon me." Nicole says as she pushes to get to Jake. "Hey, Jake you wanna sit next to me?" Nicole asked. "Umm... Excuse me, maybe you forgot but he's my boyfriend." Ally said. "Oh yeah. Sorry." "Ally, you better calm down. Remember we're dealing with a creature here not a human." Angela said. "Yeah, okay but she needs to back off from Jake."

"Hey guys, we don't need to go over names because I taught most of you last year." Ms. B said.

"Look we don't have much time, can we get this over with." Nicole said.

"Okay, this goes to all the people in the room. Don't ever talk to me like that again." Ms. B said in the calmest way possible.

"What the hell is the matter with you?" Jake whispered to Nicole. "You know what's the matter with me, Jake." Nicole whispered back. "I thought you had that under control."

"Why are you talking to her?" Angela whispered to Jake. "We need to talk about her problems." Jake said. "Alright but not during class. Especially not with your girlfriend right next to you." Angela said to Jake. "Okay, later then."

"More like not at all. Pay attention."

"So this is your English class. We're going to be working on vocab, reading, and essays. This will help you for next year so you know what you're doing when they give you a surprise essay." Ms. B said.

(Beep indicates time to go to next class FYI)

"Well that's the bell I'll see you guys tomorrow."Ms. B said.

"Ally, I have to talk to you." Angela said. "Okay, what's up?"

"Jake has been acting weird ever since Nicole came. And I'm not sure what's going on. You should be the one concerned, not me." Angela said.

"I know but..."

"But what?"

"I don't know what to do!" Ally shouted.

"Okay. Okay, I'll figure out something." Angela said trying to calm her down.

"Okay. Thanks. Let's get to advisory. and sorry for yelling by the way."

"I know." Angela said with a smile.
