It's been years since I moved from Busan. After my dad died, it's just been mom and me. After I graduated high school, mom told me to follow my dreams and move to Seoul to go to the college I dreamed of going to. So that's what I did; I packed my suitcases and left to Seoul. I enrolled in Deming University and had less time to visit my mom. It's been six years since I went to visit her. The closest I got to see her is on video chats which were rare. The more time passes, the more I think I made the wrong choice.
I get out of bed only to feel the soreness creep through my body slowly.
"Damn it, I knew I shouldn't overdo it yesterday," I say as I stretch my bones and muscles.
I take a quick shower and get dressed. Just when I start to brush my hair out, my phone starts to ring. I pick up the phone to only see that Jinyoung is calling me.
"Yes, Jinyoung?"
"Bro, finally you answered."
"You only called me once."
"So? When are you heading over? Everyone is here and waiting for your butt."
"Yeah, yeah, I'll be over in about 20 minutes."
"20?!? Fine, just hurry and get over here. Don't make everyone wait."
"Aye, aye princess." I hear him sigh on the other line.
"Yeah, whatever. Bye."
"Bye, sweetie." I hang up the phone and put it in my legging pocket.
I grab my bag and my jacket and head out the door. It was a nice sunny day, with clear skies and a bright sun beaming down. I walk down the street to head to the café only to pass nearby a park which catches my attention. I see people performing dancing while everyone applauds, sings and cheers. A small smile creeps onto my face as I remember the old days, where I and 7 other used to do that but didn't last long as we all went our different ways, well most of us. Only four of us do this but it's rare.
Only a few minutes later I enter the café to see a group of loud ass grown adults acting like kids in a corner of the café. Luckily we rented out the whole café for today or it would be embarrassing to see former Deming student from the elite school look like idiots. As they make jokes and laugh as the most idiotic things, Seulgi recognizes me.
"Y/n, you're finally here!" She jumps up and runs over to hug me which captures Jinyoung's attention. "Well, well. Look what the cat finally dragged in."
"Sweetie I think the cat dragged you in."
"Ha, ha very funny."
I greet everyone, noticing a lot of familiar faces and some not so familiar. Five boys in the back seat together separated from the rest. Just then I hear my name being whispered.
"Y/n~," Daesung says as him and four others creep towards me.
"Where have you been~" Daesung, Xiumin, Seulgi, Dahyun, and Hyunsik bombarded me with questions one after another.
I started laughing, not even answering any of the questions.
"That's enough guys, y/n didn't come here to answer you guys stupid questions like what Dahyun asked."
"Wait, what? What did I say?!?"
"You literally asked her did she comb her teeth," Xiumin said shaking his head.
"No, I didn't."
"Yes, you did." All of us answered.
"Whatever, that's not what I asked." She walked away pouting.
We all laughed and ordered brunch.
After eating we settle into chatting about what we do for a living I was finally introduced to the five boys that were chatting to their group and sometimes to us.
"Oh right! Y/n you don't know these guys, right? I forgot you were an honor student a passed with flying colors leaving a year early." Jinyoung said with sarcasm.
"Right like I actually did that."
"But you still left early."
"Alright, alright, get off my case."
"So let me introduce you to them. On the far left with lightest brown hair is Chan. He's the oldest. Next to him is Min-ho or Lee Know, whatever you want to call him. You could probably even call him an onion."
"That's not funny Jinyoung," Min-ho says.
"Next up is Felix, now he's a weird person so don't hang around him."
"I got a feeling that your gonna get your butt kicked today."
"Please don't... Next to Felix in I.N. and after him it's Hyunjin. He's super shy, I mean it."
"Wait why didn't you say anything about me?"
"Because what's there to say."
"Rude much don't cha' think."
"Nah."
I smile at their comments and make eye contact with Hyunjin. He looks away quickly and starts to talk to I.N. I smile to myself actually seeing that he's a marshmallow. The more I talk to them and interact with them, the more I see their different personalities. I made friends with all of them very quickly except for Hyunjin, who was very distant from everyone.
When we finished our get together we say our goodbyes and head home. I walk down the street back to my apartment only to see that Hyunjin was right behind me. Every turned I made, he made them too. After a while, I got irritated.
"Uh, Hyunjin, not to be rude or anything, but why are you following me?"
"I'm not. I live in that apartment complex." He points to the apartment complex I live in.
What luck that we live in the same building.
"I guess you're not, sorry." We keep walking as we enter the building.
We enter the elevator together and go to the same floor. Just before I made it to my door, I just realized I needed to go shopping for dinner and tomorrow. I turn on my heel and rush to the grocery store, passing Hyunjin.
"Dang it, how forgetful can I be."
He watches me rush back down to the elevator and a smile graces his lips. He opens his door to his apartment, 202, and enters.
"I'm home Geum-bi."
