Crystal took me supplies shopping in the one place unlimited credit cards were never a rare sight. 5th avenue.

I walked beside her down fifth avenue with a new found sense of poise. My back was straight. My arms hung at my side and my purse hung gently by my arm. I felt more comfortable than one would when amongst a higher social class. Most prominently in my mind was the fact that everyone on this piece of sacred ground had a passion for shopping, and that it was something we shared.

My heels, that were clicking on the pavement moments before, scuffed the ground as Crystal decided we needed lip gloss. Hurtling toward the store I heard a familiar voice.

Chelsea Davingnon of the Upper West side and Brook Hill Davingnons. I didn't know where Brook Hill was but I was pretty sure she only introduced herself that way so she sounded more prestigious. It never worked.

"That color can't be discontinued," said Chelsea. "I just placed a large order for it. It was to come in today."

"I'm sorry miss," the woman behind the counter spoke. "We didn't receive an invoice for that order."

"This is outrageous!" Chelsea yelled. And then she spotted us. "What are you two doing here," she said looking at me up and down.

"Buying lipgloss," Crystal told her. "I mean that's the whole point of a store isn't it?"

"Yeah, whatever," Chelsea said. I was becoming angry.

"On second thought we don't need lipgloss today." I said trying to diffuse the situation. Chelsea was out for my head and I didn't need Crystal making it worse.

"Fine," Crystal said. "But this isn't over. Come on, let's go watch people fight over shoes."

"There's an idea!" I said giggling and with that we left. I had a feeling this thing with Chelsea wasn't over.
