Maria's POV
I can't believe that after seven harsh years, I finally got away.
You see he wasn't always like this. He was happy, and carefree. Until that one phone call that changed everything for the both of us. My dad loved my mom, and when heard news of her death, it completely destroyed all love, trust, and faith in our family. Or what was a family. Now all I had was a broken, alcoholic of a father-if he even got to be called that, and me. Technically it was just me.
But, by now, I'm just a shell of a 17 year old girl. Dark brown hair, bright blue eyes, and a 5' 6" stature. And tonight is the night that I'm getting away. Away from pediphilic, drunken men, and away from my asshole of a dad.
Let me fill you in a bit, seven years ago, when I was a chubby little 8 year old, marked the day of my first beating. My dad hit me and repeated the words of "It's all your fault". This was all rooted from my mothers passing. He became unstable and the once warm home quickly became an unsafe place for me. At the age of 10, the scars, cuts, and wounds began getting a bit more prominent, so I took what little money I saved up and bought new clothes and makeup. I wore jeans and sweats almost every day, and if I was feeling fancy, a long sleeve cardigan in place of an old navy blue hoodie. Around the time I went shopping, I was extremely thin-remember how I told you I was a chubby 8 year old? Well that certainly went away fast. I began to starve because I was only 10, and was scared shitless to go downstairs for food.
Well fast forward to now, and I'm on the verge of being healthy again. Only because I would spend the majority of my day at school, or working at the smoothie shop down the road. My dad never knew because he was almost never home. He would go out every day of the week and drink, then on Monday, Wednesdays, and Thursdays he would play poker or some other games with his perverted friends. Only on Fridays did I never come home, until today. It was the day that my dad would host the poker/card games at our house. I'm surprised we still have enough money left to pay for it too.
Today it totally slipped my mind that it was Friday. School ended a week ago, so the days were jumbled up. I eventually walked through our front door, expecting nobody to be home. But instead I was met with the disgusting stench of alcohol and smoke. I attempted to go up the stairs as quickly as I could, but someone caught my hand and spun me around. He literally looked like he was in his 30's. I tried to push him off of my but it didn't work.
"Where you off to doll face?" was all he whispered to me, and I could smell the cheap beer radiating off of him. I tried in another attempt to push him off of me, but yet again it didn't work. He began to feel me up through my leather jacket and eventually pulled the zipper down. I turned my head away, and stuggled in his grip-that was definitely going to leave finger marks. He pushed my jacket off onto the stairs, and began kissing my neck and collar bones. Letting out another whimper, I prayed to God that my mom was watching over me right now, and something would come up so this wouldn't actually be happening. Just as he reached down for the button of my jeans, someone called a name. Apparently it was his because he turned around, and I took matters into my own hands. His grip loosened, and I punched him in the jaw, and kneed him in the crotch. Picking up my jacket, I bolted up to my room and locked my door.
Which brings us back to where I am now. My room.
I quickly packed my things in my backpack. Jeans, hoodies, sweats, converse, vans, bras, panties, makeup, and lastly a picture of my mom and I at my 5th birthday party. I smiled at the memory, but it was soon brought to an end when I heard someone pounding up the stairs. I grabbed all my money and zipped up my backpack, the steps were almost up the stair entirely. Snatching my phone and penny board from the corner of my room, I took one last look back. I wasn't really going to be missing anything. So I did what the only option was at this point-I jumped.
Jumping out the window really isn't a big deal if you know how to land properly. Lucky for me, I've been doing this for quite some time now. I ducked my head in my hands, and rolled onto the soft grass. Getting up as quickly as I could I began to run again, but down the road this time. Placing my board on the ground, I got on and began to pennyboard to the only place I knew was safest, and the only place I knew I could go and they would keep me no questions asked.
My best friends house.
a/n: hey guys, so i think this is going to be a good story-sorry for all the drama within the first chapter it's kinda the girls back story and it needed to be done for this to make sense.
the girl/guy relationship between Aaron and Maria (which is coming shortly) is actually based off of something thts kinda happened before to me, and it'll be really cute.
sorry for the dark chapter-next chapter will be better, i promise. Ps: I DO NOT and HAVE NOT gone through any of the violence in this book what so ever. I only meant that the cute romantic part with the hot guy is what happened to me.
Xoxo Ria
