After getting Beca down from the net, all of the Bellas were gathered around the campfire as they relaxed from the day.
"I don't know, I guess I don't want to focus on anything other than my music. It took me ages to get that intern position and now it feels like I'm heading in the right direction and taking steps towards my dream. Sure, it's not what I had planned but it's a start," Beca explained to the Bellas once Aubrey had insisted that Beca share with the group.
"If you would have just said something..." Chloe uttered.
"I know but I'm weird about that stuff..."
"We're always going to be here for you, Bec," Stacie said. "You don't need to feel bad or whatever when it comes to sharing stuff. We're pretty much a family and family don't keep things from one another, especially the parents."
Everyone laughed as did Beca and Chloe who shared a brief look at one another. They weren't sitting together like they always were. This time, Beca sat on a chair while Chloe sat on a log next to Aubrey.
"Plus, it's your final year at Barden so that's got to be tough as well," Emily spoke.
"Yeah..." Beca nodded. "You know, when I look back on this, I'm not going to remember performing or competing - I'm gonna remember you weirdoes... It makes me sad to think that it'll never be like this again..." She said desolately. "I'm gonna miss you guys."
"Yeah," Fat Amy agreed.
"Me, too," Cynthia-Rose uttered.
Chloe looked around at all of the desolate faces then back at Beca. Chloe was also sad that it was her final year at Barden. The woman had failed Russian literature three times just so she could stay a Bella. She knew she had to move on and she planned to graduate with her girlfriend at the end of the year. She needed to move on and she was only going to do that with Beca, and that's when Chloe got an idea.
"I got my ticket for the long way 'round..." She sang and Beca looked up at her with a smile.
"Two bottles of whiskey for the way..."
"And I sure would like some sweet company and I'm leaving tomorrow what do you say?" The rest of the Bellas joined in as they sang the song that Beca had performed for her audition to join the Bellas.
It was soft and sweet and the Bellas all harmonised perfectly. It was a beautiful moment and it was even more beautiful when Beca and Chloe looked at one another at the end and smiled. It was the first time they smiled like that in quite some time.
"Did we just find our sound?" Beca asked.
"I think we did." Chloe nodded.
"My work here is done," Aubrey said proudly.
Chloe turned to her friend with a smile. "Thank you."
"We're not completely done here," Fat Amy spoke and everyone turned to her.
"What's wrong?" Emily asked.
"Are we just gonna pretend that Stacie and Aubrey have complete toners for each other?"
"Amy!" Aubrey snapped.
"She's right," Stacie confessed. "Bree and I are together. We have been for a little while now."
The Bellas all squealed with delight, especially Chloe.
"CR, you owe me fifty bucks," the Australian said.
"Dammit!" Cynthia-Rose sighed.
"Whoa, you bet on us?" Stacie frowned.
"Hey, I was all for you. I was right about Bhloe and I was right about Staubrey." Fat Amy said it as if it were no bother at all.
Stacie just breathed a laugh then looked up at Aubrey who was smiling at her lovingly.
"What about the body swappers here?" Cynthia-Rose asked. "What are we going to do about them?"
"That's Lily's job," Beca answered and everyone looked at the quiet woman.
"I was going to tell you earlier but you two were fighting and I've hardly seen either of you around for a bit but I managed to find the other half of that tale."
"You did?" Beca and Chloe said in unison with wide eyes.
"Yes,"
"What did it say? Can we switch back?" Beca probed.
"You can, but it says that you have to be happy with yourself and your partner. You have to be sure that this is the life you want to carry on - a life you share together. You have to recognise each other's differences and come to an agreeance on them. Learn to accept your faults and your partner's. If you are not completely happy then you will not return to your own bodies until you are content."
Beca and Chloe looked at each other, not sure what to say.
"I think you two need to go for a walk," Aubrey told them.
"Yeah, I think we do." Chloe nodded and stood, initiating Beca to do the same.
The Bellas wished the couple good luck as they walked away from the group and took a stroll through the grounds, cautious of the bear traps lying around.
"Do you want to say something in particular?" Chloe asked.
"Not really."
"Becs, we have to communicate in order for us to switch back. You can't keep things from me anymore - no matter how big or small."
Beca sighed. "I just need you to lay off me a bit. I've been trying really hard to get a part-time job and I was lucky enough to get this position as an intern. I know it's not glamorous or anything like that but it's a start. Just because I focus on my music all the time doesn't mean that I've lost sight of reality. I know I need to get a job to support us. I can't rely on you or anyone to provide for me. I'm an adult and I know I have to do adult things to survive."
Chloe nodded. "I'm sorry, Becs. I'm so sorry for what I said to you and how I've been treating you. I have realised that I've changed ever since Aubrey left but I just thought that you were too focused on your music than anything else. I felt like I had to look after everyone and it turned me into another Aubrey, which I never thought I'd become and I'm not proud of it either. I'm sorry that I've pushed you but as I said, I just want the best for you. I know that you're going to make it as a kickass music producer but until then, we need to survive."
"We do and we're going to. You said earlier that we've been through a lot and came out stronger on the other side and I believe that this will be the same."
"So you're not leaving me?" Chloe asked feebly.
Beca stopped walking and turned to Chloe, taking the woman's hands in her own and looking into her eyes.
"I'm not going to leave you, Chlo. I'm never going to leave you. I didn't mean what I said before. I was just so angry... You know I don't mean any of the stuff I say when I'm angry."
"No, but I did think since we were arguing a lot and it got more serious that... you know..."
"You never need to worry about that, okay? I'm not going anywhere. You stole my heart from the moment you barged into my shower. I've got a big future ahead of me, Chlo, and I can't do it without you. I WON'T do it without you."
Chloe's cheeked reddened as she smiled.
"I'm sorry for being stubborn and selfish. I've just had a lot going on and it's come to a boiling point. Forgive me?" Beca used her puppy eyes on the older woman but it wasn't as effective since Chloe was looking at her own face.
"I know what you're trying to do and I'm a complete sucker for it but it looks terrible on me."
Beca breathed a laugh as did Chloe.
"But, yes, we're good."
"Thank God." Beca chuckled and wrapped her arms around her girlfriend for a cuddle.
"Come on, let's get back to camp and talk to Lily," Chloe said once their hug was over.
"Yes, let's get this sorted out. I'm dying for a burrito."
Chloe rolled her eyes and laughed as she took her girlfriend's hand and walked back to camp.
