Zays POV
"So um.." I start and almost expect her to make some sarcastic remark and turn around, but she doesn't. "Listen Jess I cant speak for the group, but I know you..." I start but her cold hurt voice cuts me off.
"Of course you do cowboy. You've always known me..." she starts and I hear her voice cracking, and this time its my turn to cut her off.
"Listen to me please." I say calmly trying not to scare her. "You live with walls surrounding your heart, because your scared to let people in, cause the second you let someone in your gonna have to leave. Trust isn't something you give away easily, but once someone has your trust you decide that they are someone you never wanna let go. You used to be the baddest chick around. You used to be able to take Lucus down, which really ment something.."
"Stop." She says but I continue to talk this time walking forward slightly.
"..You've always held a certain confidence even when you honestly didn't think you could do it. You do everything for everybody, and you've never really taken time to find yourself. Although I think somewhere between Texas and New York you did a little soul searching. Jessica Anderson I knew you when you walked into the classroom but he said Anderson. I knew you as Jessica Wilson. And that Jessica used to let me in. As long as it was the right moment." I say and place my hand on her shoulder. Her face turns towards me and I feel the anger rise inside of me as I see the bruises and cuts.
"It's a little late for that." She says her voice cracking more then before. "You know what this means." She says and I pull her into a hug.
"Your not gonna leave again. We won't let that happen." I say wishing I could sound confident. I pull out of the high and look her in the eyes. "I'm gonna get Mr. Mathews to drive us to the agency." I say and she looks at me in disbelief.
"Thank you Zay." She says and pulls me into another hug.
I walk over to the stairwell and motion for Mr. Mathews to come up. He looks at me still confused on what hes here for.
"I need you to drive us somewhere." I say as he finally walks onto the roof. He walks straight up to Jess. He looks at the bruised face than back at me. He then pulls here into a quick hug.
"Let's go." He says.
We spend awhile at the agency. After her meeting we all drive to her old house to get her stuff. I help her pack up and then we head back to the agency. Mr. Mathews has been on the phone for awhile and once he hangs up he looks at me with a smile.
"I'll be right back." He says than he walks over the the front desk.
A/n
So hi. I know nothing about the foster care and adoption stuff. I am not trying to make anything in this part of the story completely realistic. This is part of the story I was nervous to write because its touching real life issues with very little experience with the topic. This topic is however important to this character and I wanted to state that I am not saying how the system works. I believe most things I'm doing to be incorrect, but I honestly wouldn't know. Now I'm gonna stop rambling.
