Yet again the shouting In the corridor grew louder, soon the neighbour, Ms Flickerston would knock and join the yelling. The two voices now of course were her Mum and Dad. Her mum was six weeks pregnant with another mans baby, her dad still didn't know that part. Tempers had been rising since her dad had lost his job. Mum couldn't work (or so she said) so money was running low, so Leesha's hard earned pay check would go to her parents, to either her mums obsession over baby clothes or her dads almost daily pub life. Leesha was 16 and worked at a small cafe almost a town over. She should've had no money left but the bus driver, Mr Scoout always let her on for half the price. Mr Scoout had cancer and the cheap bus journey's would end soon. So she saved everything she could, her parents didn't know but she worked in a gift shop on the beach.
Leesha sat as usual on her small dirty Chair on her small cluttered balcony. She'd have to clean this up soon. Tired of working and the yelling she turned her back on it all. Her parents hardly knew her anymore, she'd dyed her brown hair purple and suffered from some form of depression. She frowned as she thought back to what they'd said when she told them she had depression "depression? Isn't that a way to get attention? You don't have that Hun. It doesn't matter if you think you have it. What? You think a little sadness means your depressed?", for a brief moment she hated her mum. It was just a 'little' sadness! She thought of killing herself along daily! She had only just stopped Cutting her arms and she hated it! She hated herself, how she laughed, how others had more fun then her. But mostly she hated this weakness. Shaking her head Leesha walked inside, the yelling seemed twice as loud now. Slowly her eyes were drawn to the brightly decorated Cross on her wall. Her attempt not to laugh failed, the Cross her dad had bought her. "Pray and you shall be saved", her dad was such a god man. But then she thought, she stopped laughing and locked at the cross. God didn't exist, he'd never helped her or anyone else, it couldn't hurt to try...could it?
With all her might, with her hands limply at her side and her eyes squinted shut. She prayed, she begged, "Send someone to take me away...please?". And of course nobody answered. Of course not, but she still felt her heart sink. Turning she went to her wardrobe, changed from her pyjama's. Thud. She changed into jeans and her favourite Band top. Thud? She looked back towards the balcony and found a seagull collapsed on her chair. For a very long time she just looked at it, then it moved and stood. She could see its wing was bad, it looked like it had been burnt? She let her heart go out to the creature.
And then it changed, with a fall of white feathers and a small gust of wind the seagull was gone, replaced by a white haired boy. He was facing away from her and she saw them on his back, tattoos which slowed and sunk onto his body. She couldn't scream. He turned. He was naked. He stood. He had red eyes. Then he stopped, centimetres from her. "I'm Seamus. The Seagull Angel. You called?"
God wasn't real. She knew that much, but when a Seagull turns into a boy you had to believed in something. Leesha didn't. This boy, Seamus did he say? Was just something she created or was she high? She hadn't taken drugs yet so she couldn't be. Right? He wasn't real she had just finally cracked, gone loopy or something...He wasn't sent by 'god', because God didn't exist. It wasn't true was it? Why had God chosen now? Why had god chosen to send this boy? This boy who was currently laying on her bed naked? She sprung back to life and yelled "get off my bed!" "Aww! Come on! I've been in 'Gull form for ages! Let me relax before I grant your wish!" "Wish?" "'Send someone to take me away...please' I'm gonna kidnap you. Keep your with me as a pet or something". "Kidnap me?! How, your just a kid!" Annoyed he stood and came close again "kid?! I'm 17! I'm not that short am I?! I hate turning into this form after so long, it takes ages to go back to normal!". "However old you are! I will not be kidnapped by a naked person!" "Naked? I'm not-" then he looked down, his faces flushed with red and he darted into the wardrobe. "Oi! Don't touch any of my stuff!". Tired she dropped onto her bed. So her wish and been granted, someone was here to take her away... Leesha smiled, then in a burst of energy began packing.
Inside the wardrobe Seamus looked at the clothes. There were so few. Weren't girls supposed to have loads? And why were they In such big sizes? He tried on a T-shirt and it almost reached his feet. Luckily the trousers fitted him fine. How embarrassing that had been...to be seen naked by a stranger. Well, his boss had sent him so he didn't have a choice but now he would have this girl with him...what was her name anyway. He suddenly noticed the yelling just passed the wall, insults flies eaves where and then a name was yelled "-Leesha. What about her?! She's just a brat! Don't even start saying you care for her witch! Oh! Well your not exactly fond of her either?!" More was said but he couldn't listen to them. Wait, if he could hear them so could she! Quickly he exited the wardrobe. She was looking at the door. He couldn't think of anything to say, to hear your parents say such things about you...brought back unpleasant memories. "...you know something? I feel like I should be upset? But I'm not, I don't know if I can even cry anymore...is it stupid that I want to die?" She wasn't upset? No. She was terribly upset, even if she couldn't tell anyone looking at her could, her eyes were so sad. They kept looking at each other before she smiled sadly at him. "I'm packing now, mind waiting, Seamus?" He sat on her bed and watched as she packed. He read her heart as she did. Such a sad child. So broken, just like him.
"I'm ready."
