My name is Luciana Speranzini and I am about to tell you a story. My story to be exact. Like all stories, there was a time before the beginning of this story. In this prologue, I will try to fill you in on the important pieces of my life before the fifth grade which is where the main story begins.
I'll start at the very beginning. For the first year of my life I lived on a goat farm with my parents but as I grew older they realized that they needed to move closer to schools and grocery stores and such. We moved twice before settling in a townhouse in Kingston Springs, Tennessee when I was four or five.
Not even a year later my mom, Fiona, took me to live at the beach in North Carolina after a fight with my dad, Jacob. During this time my mom tried and failed to homeschool me. We eventually moved back in with my dad in time for the new school year. I would be starting my second year of kindergarten. Yes, I did kindergarten twice but at no fault of my own. My mom said that I was too young since I was born in September, right before the cut-off.
When I was seven my dad moved out the townhouse and into an apartment in Brentwood and took me with him, leaving my mom in the townhouse by herself. Then a few months later my dad was diagnosed with throat cancer. After months of chemo and radiation treatment, he was on the mend but I broke my arm and my mom convinced my dad to let her move in with us to help take care of me. Even after I recovered from the broken arm my mom never moved back to the townhouse. It wasn't until eight months after he was diagnosed that he was 100 percent again.
Since my dad was paying for the townhouse and the apartment by himself it became hard to pay for both so we all moved back to the townhouse after my dad cleaned it up because it was a mess and basically unlivable.
Not long after we all moved back to the townhouse did things go downhill. This is where the story begins.
