CHAPTER SIX — DEMO

"JUST DO this one thing for me kook thats all I ask" Yoongi was prepared to fall down to his knees and beg Jungkook who stubbornly shook his head.

"Not for that group, hyung. Any group but that group" The younger scrunched up his nose and shook his head like a child.

Yoongi was about to admit defeat. "Please, kook. I need this demo by tomorrow, no-one else can do it"

And then, as if an angel was sent from heaven just to change Jungkook's mind, the maknae sighed, scratched at his head and looked to Yoongi. "You need it that badly?" He questioned, eyes guilty. Yoongi nodded quickly in reply. "Fine" Jungkook finally agreed after half an hour of Yoongi's persistent begging. The older thought he might cry with happiness. Jungkook was the only person available to record a demo. He'd asked others but they were all busy.

"Thank you!" Yoongi smiled so wide the pink gums above his teeth showed.

"What is that?"

"Cranberry juice"

"Oh. Looks like blood"

"Youre right, I'm actually a vampire"

Taehyung's eyes widened. "Wait seriously?" He asked, picking up the glass of cranberry juice.

Jimin rolled his eyes. "I cant tell if its innocence or stupidity" The smaller snatched the juice back and sipped at it with a glare.

Just then a flustered Namjoon came running in, coat hanging half off, hair disheveled and face pink from the cold. "Yoongi sent the demo!"

"About time" Taehyung pointed out and Jimin agreed with a curt nod. It had been a few weeks since they received the lyrics and they had all been patiently waiting for the composer to send them the demo so they could get an idea of the song.

"Is everyone here?" Namjoon ignored the makanes comment and looked around as if waiting for the other two to pop up out of nowhere. "We need to listen to it asap and let Yoongi know what we think" Namjoon pulled out his laptop from his bag and set it on the table facing towards everyone. He pulled up the email, then looked back at Taehyung.

"Fine, I'll go get them" He huffed before padding off towards their rooms. In honesty, Taehyung was feeling off about the whole thing. He didn't like the idea of working with someone who was best friends with his ex, even if he was a good composer and lyricist. What if there were hidden messages in the song that were directed at him? Jungkook could have easily manipulated Yoongi to sneak some things in there...

The maknae collected Seokjin and Hoseok, dragging the two tired artists to the kitchen where they all sat around the table, waiting anxiously for Namjoon to press play.

And when their leader finally, finally pressed the button, their ears were graced with a sound none of them had heard before. The song was soft, melodic. It was different from their usual style, but didn't turn any of them away.

Taehyung listened in awe, Yoongi certainly was talented. He had read over the lyrics and music sheet a few times to get an idea, but nothing he had imagined sounded like what Yoongi had created. The lyrics started a while in, Yoongi had given the backing a little longer to let the artists get a feel for the actual music before a familiar voice began singing the lyrics to the song. Lyrics Taehyung had read over and memorised in the few weeks they'd had them but sounded so different coming from Jeongguk.

It was obvious it was Jeongguk, when they were together, Taehyung had heard Jeongguk sing often. He was good, but he knew the other was shy about it, which wasn't a surprise. He had been dating an idol, someone famous for their singing abilities. Jeongguk had improved, perhaps he had been practicing; or perhaps it was just because Taehyung hadn't heard him sing in so long.

The song was over before Taehyung realised it and the group found themselves staring at the screen in pleasant surprise. "Wow" Was the first word spoke. It was Jimin, who was sat beside Taehyung, leaning against him with his head laid on his shoulder. "That was good"

"Good?" It was Hoseok this time. "That was amazing, I had no idea Yoongi could create something like this"

"He is one of the best" Namjoon added, leaning forward to scroll down the email. There were a few other demos, all slightly different but following the same idea. "I like it, the first one. The bridge lead up to the chorus was incredible, so much emotion"

Seokjin nodded in agreement. "Me too, we can try all of them, but I have my heart set on that first one"

"Shall we send them to management with our favourite?" Jimin asked, looking past Taehyung to Namjoon. The leader nodded.

"Yeh, and I'll let Yoongi know what we thought"

No one noticed the silence until there was a small sniff, the 4 looking in the direction of Taehyung who was crying quietly, tears dripping slowing down his cheeks and onto the back of his hands.

The lyrics were deep, even on paper, but hearing them come from Jeongguk's voice. Taehyung could only wish that what he sung about was how he truly felt, but he knew it was just a song. A song he hadn't written.

Even so, he couldn't stop the flow of tears, and Jimin pulled him close and pressed Taehyung's face into his shoulder. No words were spoken, but it was painfully obvious the the boys that a certain member still felt the same about the man he had once been in love with.

I died?? I am so, so sorry everyone. I don't even have an excuse. Writing has become a bit of a chore for me, finding the time and actually enjoying it has become difficult.

I will try to update more frequently, but I will most likely be discontinuing my own books and focusing only on getting this finished before giving up writing completely. Life has just become so busy.

I apologise to everyone for the wait, many have likely become uninterested in this story and I hate to let down not only the fans but thirstae who gave me the honour of finishing this amazing series.
