I leapt into a crouch and launched my body up towards his jaw. The top of my head smacked onto his chin with a disgusting crack. Even though I was weak, I had surprise and momentum on my side. Howling, zack stumbles backwards and collapsed, curling up in pain. I quickly grabbed the cursed collar and threw it over the balcony where it arched over the crimson sky and felt with a loud splash into the river. My magic... I can feel it again!
Behind me, Zack let out a sound that sounded so evil. It was laughter. He laughed as I took a few steps back as Zack stumbled to his feet. "Interesting! How interesting!" Before I could react, he was standing right infront of me. "You're making me want you even more now. I-oh?..." I sunk into a fighting stance, channeling my rage into fireballs that swirled around me. The flames reflected in my eyes. "Hahahaha! You really are an interesting woman!" Instead of taking a few steps back, he leaned into the flames. He was so close that the tips of his hair began to curl and smoke in the heat. "D-dont come any closer!" I yell out. "But Eliza, dont you wish to play with me some more?" Zach seemed to be entirely unarmed...but there was a strange feeling about him. I tended as if preparing for an attack. "What are you so afraid of Eliza?" He asked. "It is you who should be afraid" I spat back. Sending the fireballs at him, one after the other, but Zachary side stepped all of them. "Is that all you've got, Eliza?" Angry, I yell out "hell no! Take this!" Grinning evily, Zachary took a few steps back, preparing to receive my attack. I raised my arms... and dived straight towards Lucien. Zackary watches, surprised. Like hell am I going to play with you. Breathing in heavily and heaved Luciens heavy body over my shoulder, using my magic to make it a little easier. Lucien groaned weakly and launched myself over the balcony. I closed my eyes. A face floated to the forefront of my mind. It was Lucien. I could feel his blood soaking my dress. I couldnt help but choke our a sob. Oh God... please, please, please let Lucien be ok...
I need to get him help NOW!
The burst of emotion sent me soaring into the sky, far away from anything Zachary could do to us. He was laughing again, but I didnt turn back to look- just hurtled even faster through the air to get as far away as I could. Lucien was all i care about right now. Lucien stirred in my arms, hissing in pain? In terror? I stroked him, trying to keep my movements gentle even as I blinked my tears away. "Its going to be ok Lucien... we're going to be ok.. you're going to be-" something sharp And metal shot through the air, tearing open the back of my calf. Time seemed to freeze as my eyes swiveled downwards... to see the same large, spiked grappling hook, wrapping itself around my entire thigh. The person wielding it was not Zackary. They were standing on the ground, in a dark alleyway right next to the restaurant I was in. Staring at me with nothing but evil in her eyes... Mary then hauled the line in.  So that's where she was all this time I thought coolly... even as I plummeted towards the ground, screaming harder than I ever have in my life. Just then the bloody marble fur in my arms spasmed and then Luciens body exploded in my arms... at least .. that's what it had felt like- a whirling exploding of flesh and heat that engulfed me. My scream dies out into a choke as the bloody fox dissappeared from my arms... only to be replaced by a strong arm wrapping around my waist, pressing me against a sturdy body. I looked up to the side. "Ngh.." The face of a beautiful stranger was looking down at the ground, not me. His eyes were pitch black, the same glossy shade as the piano Kenny plays on her freetime. Red markings all on his face, glowing, but not as strong as the hate in his eyes were. And his lips- they were pulled back in a snarl, revealing a mouth full of sharp, jagged fangs. The only thing truely recognizable was his messy black hair. Lu-Lucien?... "hang tight" pressing me tighter to him with one arm, the stranger reoriented himself into the air and slammed into the ground, feet first. I only noticed that his hands were clawed when he used his free hand to solve through the rope. The grappling hook fell to the ground with a clank as I stumbled away, still leaning on him for support. "We're alive.... ahahah... we're-"
"My, my. A fox demon?" Mary walked towards us, her shoes tapping out a steady beat on the concrete roads. Even if she was now empty-handed, her evil smile radiated the same malignant feeling "this is an even better haul than I thought it was." The stranger beside me responded with a howl that reverberated through the very depth of my chest and in a deep growl "you.." I could see his muscles bunching up in preparation for an attack and i knew, beyond all doubt that If we were to attack Mary, he would end up dead. So, timidly, I reached out and took his hand. I Thought of the way my room smelled at night, when it is cool enough to leave my window open. The warm sweet scent of the wet grass at night and the sounds of a train going by in the distance. I imagined melting into the soft darkness That felt like a blanket over me every night and then everything went black.
