"Michael I..."
Michael waited anxiously for what Jahseh was about to say to him. He knew what it was going to be, he felt it himself... but was he ready to accept it? He had told himself before time and time again that he didn't feel for Jahseh. However, he couldn't deny it now as they were so close, hand in hand, just staring into each other's eyes as Jahseh was about to confess his feelings.
Thinking back on it now, he had worried and thought a lot about the mercenary. Even to the point of using all of his savings to buy that piece of engraved silver for him. Of course he loved him. There was no way he couldn't, after all these thoughts and actions. Sighing a little, but not out of disappointment, he realized he was just going to have to admit his attraction towards the wanderer.
"I love you... I... don't know how it happened... or why... or even how it was possible to come on this quick, but I think I'm in love with you..." Jahseh finally spoke what he needed to, all of a sudden, every one of his words spilled out at once. "I know it's... weird, and unacceptable. And I know you likely won't reciprocate my feelings, but I had to say something. I think I was just finally admitting to myself just now that I love you, too..." The mercenary seemed to be confused by his own words, as he looked down while he talked. The look on his face was unreadable. Although his expression was a mystery, his eyes gave it all away.
"I'm... not sure what to say..." Michael choked out, and immediately was disappointed in how the words came out. Jahseh looked hurt, and pulled away from Michael, sitting back a bit, so they were no longer touching. The mercenary looked like he was about to speak, but before he could, Michael cut his thoughts off. "I mean I don't know how to word it..."
He took a deep breath.
"I think I share the same feelings. I shouldn't... it's wrong. But... I do. I just don't know what to say, or how to remotely explain it..." Trailing off, Michael's eyes were drawn back to Jahseh's, as the man got closer to him again.
"You're right... it is wrong. But... but it can't stop the fact that it's true... can it? Just because something is against a law... does that mean it can be stopped...? Think about it... we've already broken the law countless times with what we do." Michael could feel himself trembling as Jahseh spoke, a low tone, soft. The thief was drawn yet closer to the man.
"I... suppose... you're right...." Michael whispered between breaths. In the moment, he was entirely captivated. Entranced, and it was like nothing he'd ever felt before. A shiver was sent down Michael's spine when Jahseh took the thief's face, delicately in his hands. He turned his body so he was completely facing Jahseh now, every word he had wished to say escaped him. Their foreheads were pressed together, and it was like one could feel all of the other's feelings surging through his mind.
Without another thought, Michael felt the presence of Jahseh's lips upon his, and he was immersed in the wanderer immediately. The sellsword was taken aback as Michael gasped into the kiss. It was slow and loving. Something neither of them have felt before. And each wondered how this could happen with another man.
Pressing further, Michael felt his hands find their way to Jahseh's chest, and he rested them upon it, as if he could feel the heartbeat. To this, Jahseh wrapped his arms around Michael, leaning forward a bit, shifting himself closer yet. Their bodies were pressed together entirely, and the heat was unbearable.
Slowly, Jahseh pulled back, leaving the two slowly opening their eyes, and Michael buried his head in Jahseh's shoulder. The mercenary sighed, and enveloped the man, holding the back of the thief's head.
"I shouldn't have done that..." Michael tore himself away from Jahseh to look at him after he said this, shock in his eyes.
"What? You can't possibly say that... you just told me how we always break laws, so what's one more, and now you're concerned about this? No way..." Michael grew a slight smile and laid down on the bed they were sitting on. "That was the most love I have experienced in my entire life at the moment. Don't tell me it's all for nothing." After this moment, he didn't know why, but all of a sudden, Michael could accept his feelings. It was almost as if this had just removed all the doubt in him, that he couldn't love Jahseh. But Jahseh still sat at the side of the bed, looking guilty.
"Jah..."
"Sorry..." Jahseh forced himself to stop worrying, and laid beside Michael, who wrapped an arm around the man, curling up beside him.
"I know it seems too soon. It was too soon for me, as well. But... if it does end up forever... wouldn't it be worth it?" The thief was entirely relaxed. He didn't know why he was able to feel so strongly for Jahseh. At all. Or why he was able to ask the what if's about this; whether it would last forever, whether they were soulmates or not. Something just told him it was okay.
Jahseh sighed, and turned towards Michael.
"Do you ever wonder if something brought us together? Not... not something simple... but do you believe in fate?"
Michael was struck, and shocked once again. This had been what he was just now thinking about! He stared straight into Jahseh's mesmerizing eyes and sighed.
"I'm not sure yet."
Jahseh closed his eyes, pulling Michael closer. The thief smiled and looked over the mercenary's face. When he really thought about it, the man was quite different than any other person he'd met. It's as if he weren't even human.
Perhaps.
Michael rolled his eyes at his own thought. How silly. Inwardly, he laughed lightheartedly, he was happy. Happy to be here with Jahseh and happy to finally have someone by his side. Desperately he had needed it, but didn't even know it until it existed.
Slowly the thief found himself drifting off, and remembered the night that they had shared the first day the thief and the sellsword were together. Michael had fallen asleep next to Jahseh then, too. With this thought, he smiled, and let the warm, soft wave of sleep overtake him.
