Someone was crying. Jonny and I turned towards the noise. One of the boys was crying. He seemed fairly young. Another boy started crying too. They were about the same age. The really tall boy wrapped them both in his long, lanky arms and made shushing noises.
"It's alright boys, Quill's got you... why are you crying?"
The first crying boy wiped his nose, a string of snot attached to his arm. I gagged a bit.
"We're scared! Walter is right, something 'simisfur' is happening!"
Walter scoffed. "I ain't telling you all this to scare ya! I'm tellin' you this so you can prepare for the worst, that's all."
They cried louder, and the tall boy Quill sent Walter a glare. Walter shrugged, innocently.
I almost felt like crying myself, but if I did, it would set off a chain reaction, and soon, we'd all be in here bawling like babies. Not even Walter, as tough as he seems, would be able to keep in the fear.
There was a loud rapping on the door, making everyone jump and look at it in horror. The door opened slightly, revealing Mina-Guard Valerie in all her overly-cheerfulness.
She pushed the door completely open, waved her arms in a beckoning manner, and then started off the hallway. All 13 of us scrambled out of the room to follow her. I guess she never waits up.
We walked for a full five minutes before she made a sharp turn, and pushed open huge gray doors to an even huger hall. There were rows of long, cold, metal tables, confirming my conspiracies that this was a prison.
Mina-Guard Valerie pointed to the 3rd metal table and then walked out of the room, smiling happily. We all sat down, and there was just enough room to fit us all, and no more.
I looked around. The end table had 13 more boys on it, and the one behind them had 13 girls. I got up from the table and walked over to the other boys. They all stared at me as I walked up to them.
"Hello. Do y'know what we're all doing here?", I asked to the boy at the end.
He looked at me and pushed up his glasses. "No. No one does, apparently. I've been asking all day, but no answers. Not even those know-it-all triplets know anything..."
The boy gestured to the end of his table. Sitting there, were 3 dark haired boys, staring at the metal table in pure spite.
"Odd", I said. I looked down at the glasses boy. He was staring right at me with piercing brown eyes. "Do you have a name?"
He looked at me, astounded. "No, my parents forgot to give me one, silly them!", he said, smacking his forehead. "Of course I have a name. It's Baltimore Lean."
I turned red out of embarrassment. "Sorry, goodness. I'm Nache Carson."
We shook hands. Baltimore smiled a bit. I guess he was nervous before I walked up to him.
Just then, a hand slammed in between us. A girl with long golden hair glared at us. She looked like a mini military girl, what with the olive green uniform she was wearing.
"You two seem to know why we're all here, so spill.", she said fiercely. Many girls from her table nodded just as fiercely as she did.
Baltimore glared right back. "What makes you think we know what's happening? We're just as blind as you are."
"Seems to me like you're a bit more blind", she said, flicking Baltimore's glasses. "You have smarty-specs."
He glared at her with a look full of hatred. "Smarty-specs? That's the best name you thought of?"
