It was finally time for Laura and Derek’s wedding. I wasn’t sure if Laura even wanted me there but I wouldn’t miss my best friend’s wedding for anything.
So I took my pink bridesmaids dress out of the bag it had been hanging in since we had bought it three months ago and put it on. I then went round to my Dad’s house and got Megan to do my makeup again (I didn’t like to admit it but she was actually really good!).
Unfortunately, I had no car so I had to get Cassandra to drop me at the hotel otherwise I would be late.
“Wait, can we make a stop first?” I asked Cassandra.
“Of course.”
I directed her to where I wanted to go and got out of the car. I stepped to the door and rang the buzzer.
“Jules? Will you let me in?” I asked.
There was no reply but the door opened so I assume that she heard. Either that or there were some magic fairies on my side. I ran up the stairs and politely knocked on the door. Charlie answered.
“Get dressed,” I said. “We’re going to a wedding.”
“Who says I want to go anywhere with you?” He said bluntly.
“Because, I was really bitchy to you at the stupid ball thing and you were really nice and drove me home even though I wouldn’t have blamed for leaving me there to suffer so I kinda wanted to make it up to you by being really nice and taking you to a posh place with free food,” I babbled. “… And an open bar.”
He narrowed his eyes. “Fine,” He said. “But only because of the free food.” He grinned.
“Come on! Put a suit on and let’s go!” I pushed him gently in the right direction.
Less than five minutes later we were clambering into the car. “Seriously though, I just don’t get how you can get ready that fast?” I said.
“I just don’t get how you can get ready that slow.” He countered.
“Shush.” I poked him in the ribs. “Now, Laura doesn’t actually know that you’re coming so just act like you fit in and everything will be fine.”
“Are you always this unorganised?” Charlie asked.
“Yes.” Cassandra and I both said at the same time.
“We’re here!” Cassandra said as she pulled to the side of the road. “Have fun!” She called as we scrambled out.
I rolled my eyes. She said it like I was going to the cinema.
“We have to go find Laura. I think I was supposed to be here a while ago …” I said, approaching the desk. “Hello. I’m looking for the bride … I’m the Maid of Honour.”
“Room 212.” He said in a completely monotone voice.
“Thanks!” I called as I grabbed Charlie and tugged him towards the lift.”
A few minutes later we had located the room and I knocked on it.
Penelope answered. “You’re late.” She glared at me. “I’m sure Laura can’t wait to see you.” She sneered.
I ignored her and stepped into the suite. It was pretty fancy. I realised Charlie hadn’t stepped in with me.
“What are you doing?” I asked.
“There might be people getting changed.” He murmured.
I looked around the room. “You’re good.” I laughed.
