CHAPTER 4 - PUSH

When I get home from school I go upstairs and throw my bag across my bed.

A party? Really Leo? I hate parties.

I decide to take a shower before supper starts, I walk into the bathroom and turn the shower on.

"River, Im home" I hear my father yell up the stairs to me.

"Coming" I reply.

When I get down to the kitchen I see my mother cooking something on the stove.

"Watcha cooking" I ask.

"Well, it just so happens to be your fathers favorite"

ugh. Spaghetti.

" Oh" I mutter.

"River?" My mom says eyeing me.

"Yeah"

"You know, if somethings bothering you.

You can always come to me about it.

You can tell me anything, you understand?"

"Ya. I understand"

She walks up to me and gives me small hug.

"Its just that you seemed a little uneasy sense the move. Is everything okay?" She asks me. Truly concerned.

"Yes Mom, everything's fine" I lie right through my teeth. I dont want to tell her about Blake and have her worrying about me constantly, and also because I just dont even want to think about him.

Just then my phone starts ringing. And I walk into the other room to take the call.

"Hello?"

"Hey dude"I hear Leo's cherry voice on the end of the line.

"Leo? how did you get my number?"

"I have my ways and by 'my ways' I mean I may or may not have snuck into your student file"

"You did what!?"

"Nevermind that. Are you busy?"

"Ummm. Not really. why?" I question.

"Cause your gonna meet me at 22 old mill road in twenty minutes got it?"

"But-"

"Dont question me River Just meet me there" And he hangs up.

I grab my phone and my coat and start towards the door.

"I'll be back in a little bit" I say to my mom.

"Okay. Be back by ten" And I walk out of the house.

As soon as I walk out the door Im met with cool October air which causes me to shiver.  I hop into my 2014 Toyota truck and pull out of the drive way heading to 22 old mill road.

When I get to old mill road I see a group of five or six kids waiting outside of a big white house. Leo in the midst of them.

"Leo what's going on?" I ask him once I park my truck and walk up to the group of boys.

"Just watch and see. Come on. Follow us" Before I can say anything Leo and the other boys are heading towards the woods.

I dont feel to great about this.

After about ten minutes of me just following in silence we come to a clearing just beyond the woods. But what really bothers me is that just up ahead is a huge cliff jutting of straight down to the lake.

I walk up to Leo who is taking off his coat and shoes.

"Dude, What's going on?"

"Just watch. Now I suggest you take of your coat and shoes to"

I do as he says and as soon as I do im shivering.

"Whose going first?" A blonde kid with shaggy hair asks from my left.

"Why dont we let River? Seeming as its his first time and all" Leo says with a huge smile and then walks over to look over the edge of the cliff, who in turn is followed by the other guys.

"Let me do what?" I say once I walk up to them.

"Can you swim? The blonde asks me. He looks over at Leo who nods his head suppressing a slight chuckle.

"Yes I can swim but what does that have to-" And before I can finish my sentence another kid shoves me from behind and I fall face first off the cliff.
