On Earth... 8 years later.
Luna opens the latch and steps out onto the roof. It was her favourite place in the whole world.
The view up here was so magical.Above you could see the stars twinkling and glistening in the distance, the night sky was a gradient of dark blue and black. Luna looked out at the city of lights as she called it. At night the whole city was lit up with colorful lights, ranging from red to blue. It was the only place she felt close a close connection with her grandfather, it was their special place after all.But today she came up here for another reason entirely. Tonight there was a celebratory dinner hosted to commemorate her grandfather.
It was times like these she was grateful that she had this place to escape the chaotic mess that is called her life. She couldn't handle the pitiful glances everyone kept giving her.
Shaking her head Luna rids any thoughts relating to her grandfather and took a deep breath and sighed and pulled her dusty leather jacket tighter around her thin frame.
She went to the nook in the corner and took out her secret stash of food and a blanket, balancing all the food she walked slowly to the edge she sat down put all the stuff on the floor behind her.
Luna took out her laptop and set an antenna near the satellite dish. She opened a packet of crisps and examined the state of The Matrix database. A few months ago she was snooping around the database and stumbled upon something mind-boggling, w
Tonight she was going to find out more and what that message meant.
Cracking her fingers she furiously typed in her laptop and stopping the odd minute to take a sip from her mineral water. After what seemed like hours the system wouldn't budge, Luna slammed her laptop closed and looked up into the sky. Then she stood up and walked carefully to the telescope and looked at the stars.
Sighing she pointed out Orion's Belt and laughed thinking of the time her grandfather took her stargazing. Now it was her favourite thing in the world.
Rubbing her eyes furiously, she looked into the telescope again. She was amazed at what she saw, in her whole existence she has never witnessed a shooting star. Luna looked intensely out the telescope with a giddy expression on her face.
Closing her eyes she wished she could see her grandfather. Shaking her head she sat back down on the ledge and marvelled in the beauty of the wondrous night.
Taking a swig of her water she heard a deafening noise. Luna howled out in pain as the noise continued. Her heart was beating so fast and her head was drumming. Once the noise disappeared Luna gained her composure only to be knocked of the roof.
