My name is Savanna Goodwin and I am the captain/Striker/old goal keeper of my schools soccer team. All the boys on the team treat me like I'm there little sis. I play on my schools BOYS varsity soccer team. I have played with most of these boys since I was 5 when I first started playing in the boys league. Back on topic tonight is the Easton's Boys Varsity Team (Tigers) opening season game. Coach has me pick the line up. I went with a 4-3-3. That means 4 defenders, 3 midflieders, and 3 strikers. We are playing the worst team in our divison. It is a definate win. So coach wants me playing in my old position, but i havent played there in over 6 months. That position was goal keeper. I played every game after game. Never did I play anywhere else. Until the accident then I promised myself I would NEVER play goalie again well until today. Coach knows I have a natural talent for goalie I played there since I was 5. He wants me to get back to playing it. Tonight is when he first really pushed me to play it. We were in our group huddle before going on to the field. When I said the line up. Coach said to me "Savanna i like your line up but im going to make one change". He grabbed the sheet of paper out of my hands and wrote on the swich and gave it back to me. "Coach I can't do that i'm not ready!" I nearly screamed. My best friend Carter looked at me then ran up to me took the sheet out of my hand and then hugged me and said " You can do it Savanna. We all believe in you. I know you havent played that position in a while, but we believe in you and coach wouldn't have made that swich if he didnt think you could do it.". He looked up and said "He believes in you, too. And we both know he wouldnt want you to give up that place because of him". I was 1st in the region. Then i gave it up. I know what you are thinking who would give up playing 1st in the state. Well thats just me. I gave it ALL up for him. I was to upset after the accident to play so I didn't play for 3 months. Carter always had me practice with him in my backyard because he knows I don't want to give up on this sport. I just want to take a break. This was my first game since the accident but coach NEVER put me in goal during the practices. He didn't want to push me.
