Emma POV
After my parents funeral several things had to take place. Since my parents had a will in place many of the financial, business, property and money needed to be distributed to designated charities and so forth. I also had a very large inheritance as well as a trust fund set in place. Legal guardianship was given to the Mr. and Mrs. Gray. Mimas’ parents Dorris and Mark. As expected it was contested by my relatives. For some reason they did not like the fact that my parents choose the Grays to be my guardians.
FLASH BACK:
“This is absurd, why would Emma be sent to live with people who are not even her family? She should stay and live with someone who is of her blood not these people. She is a Richardson and should live with her family.” Aunty Becky who is my fathers’ sister said to Mr. Blanks who is my families attorney.
“Well, this was agreed upon by the deceased parties, as well as Emma and the Grays. You have to understand that both Jake and Sarah wanted this for their daughter.” Mr. Blanks replied so everyone would understand.
“How do we know that they aren’t after her money or anything of value?” Uncle Rick questioned. He is my mothers’ only sibling.
“That’s simple to answer. They simply do not need her money. The Grays are well off and simply are the only people besides her parents that Emma trust. We all know for a fact that she does not trust many people.” Mr. Black replied. He was correct in his statement because I did not trust anyone but my parents and the Grays and Mima. Nobody else! Everyone else always seems to use me for their own benefits.
“How do we know that they will look after Emma’s’ welfare and what is best for her?” Once again this came from my Aunt Becky.
This time Mrs. Gray answered. “If you had paid attention to the gathering after the funeral you would know how much Emma means to us. Everyone that had a bad thing to say about her were removed from the gathering. I did not care if they were friends, family, coworkers, or business associates they were removed. I did that to protect her from people who judged her poorly and know nothing of who she is and how she really feels.” Dorris stood up and walked up to me and gave me a big hug. She then whispered to me…..we love you Emma no matter what and walked out of the room.
When she left the room I decided to put an end to all this. There was no real problem the issue really was why they were not chosen. They did not understand why my parents did not choose any of them. Truth is my parents did not trust any of them when it came to me and the wealth that my parents had. I decide to speak at this moment.
“I Emma Jeanne Richardson choose to live with Mr. and Mrs. Gray and their family. It is what my parents wanted, it is also what I want not anyone one but the Grays. If anyone one interferes with this decision by all means take it to court. It will be me you will be fighting and not the Grays. Do not think that my parents did not have a back- up plan in place. Being a Richardson also taught me to be ruthless if need be. ” I stared directly into the eyes of every family member until they bowed their head letting me know they will not fight this. Turning to Mr. Blanks I gave him a curt nob and left the room with Mr. Gray.
END OF FLASH BACK
It took a little over a month for everything to be completed. The most difficult thing was transferring my records to my new school. Not that I need to attend school but Dorris felt that it would be good for me to be around others who were my own age. It would also be a part of my social interaction and emotion therapy which my parents wanted me to continue with. So reluctantly I agreed to continue on with my therapy I did want to be more normal.
