At the strike of seven, I'm off my bed and almost running towards the kitchen for a cup of coffee. The need for coffee has almost been desperate in the past two days.
As stand by the stove and boil my water and humming a tune a voice interrupts -
"I'm glad you haven't left"
There stands a pale boy, not exactly pale, pink to be precise leaning against the kitchen entrance rubbing the sleep off his eyes.
His blue eyes although more bright chase me around my actions."A cup for.." before he could finish I interrupt "I'm leaving today" very confident with the delivery of words but quite unsure mentally.
"But where?" A bit of concern in his tone as he fumbles his hair and strokes it up.
The exact same question that had been running in my head.
"I am gonna go" I scream
"But where?" Yet again I question."To my friend's house" I answer veiling my uncertainty with my ego.
"Don't lie" he smirks walking towards me. I take my coffee and escape the kitchen.
"I'm not joking here!" I say stern, making myself comfortable on the small dinning table right outside the kitchen.
"I swear this is the last time you're gonna be uncomfortable. I can guarantee you" he assures. His face - neutral. His eyes - bright.
I have no choice but to agree. But Me being the stubborn bitch I am and a ego standing taller than me I will not abide easily.
"I don't trust you" I add blandly.
"Well... Now you can" he smiles slightly
"Go ahead, make your rules" he adds sliding a chair next to me.
I scoot away maintaining our distance as brighter smiles plasters his face.
I get up and walk right away into my room and grab on a sticky note and walk back to the table.
"Are you serious?" He mocks, bursting into laughter. The entire room echoes with laugh. Loud and pure. He face crunches up revealing his natural creases and leaves him flushed red.
"Yes I am. You will abide by it and I mean it." I boss over making firm eye contact with him.
"Yes ma'am" he replies with a chuckle.
I grip the pen and start writing "RULES"- big, bold and underlined. He laughs even louder this time. I smile and start scribbling again.
"1. No house Guests" I write down.
"You got to be kidding me. You want me live like a loner here" he says still laughing.
"No but you know what I mean" I remark and he nods.
"2. No Hard liquor" I write the second condition.
"What about the ones in the fridge?" He raises his brows, walking over to open the fridge and the entire door is packed with it.
My jaw hangs down but I quickly pick it up along with my saliva and put on a serious face and say-
"I suggest you give it away to a friend."More than I am afraid of what a drunk blonde boy can do I am afraid of what this drunk bronzed lass can do to a lonely boy in her room.I'm not saying for the heck of it, I'm saying it with testimonies of the past. Not going much down my memory lane I write down the next.
"3.Do not dare touch my things!" Giving him a glare.
He doesn't say anything but chortle."4.No marijuana or drugs" I further write.
His brows fly above this forehead.
"Woah! Woah! What you thinking about me mate?" He titters.
"You never know" I raise my brows and lift my shoulder, widening my inky eye.
"You can't really trust in Goa" I add with a little laugh."5. No 'lovey-dovey' in this house" I look him with a serious face.
"What do me mean now? He looks confused.
"... you know what I mean... Although you are gay" I say making it a point.
"Ooh.. How could I not... you're like a sister to me" he teases bringing back his glorious guffaw back.
If he wouldn't have been this skeletal he could have easily made a good amount of money by playing Santa at malls with that laugh of his.
"It better be that way" I saying meaning it.
I climb off the chair and walk towards the fridge as he follows me. I peel the sheet off the pad and stick it right on top of the fridge. Hoping he would remember it and I don't think I'm giving him a choice.
"Here are the conditions for happy house-mate life" I say looking at the fridge making sure the sticker is in place.
"Cool... We will watch them break" he bends down to whisper in my ear causing me to jump. And he chuckles again.
"I dare you" I warn making firm eye contact with him.
