"Are you sure that you can do this?" Stefan asks, his arms folded across his chest as an evident shade of worry clouds over his features.

Elena nods. "I'm sure. Elijah trusts me, and I think he's too worried about Katherine right now to think clearly."

From his spot on the couch, the other Salvatore brother scoffs. "We're talking about an Original, Elena. Not exactly your common vampire."

"He's right," Bonnie sighs after a small moment of silence, slightly scowling as an impressed, satisfied grin forms on Damon's lips at her agreement. "If he really cares about Katherine that much, he will come prepared."

"Elijah wouldn't hurt me," the doppelgänger reassures them, although she's starting to sound unsure of that herself.

"This is too important, Elena. We can't take any risks," Bonnie stresses, almost pleadingly.

If Elijah were to understand that something was off during his meeting with Elena, the situation could go downhill very fast, throwing her whole plan to the wind. Esther would not at all be pleased with her children knowing that their mother has finally found a way to permanently end them, and Bonnie doesn't doubt that the original witch would not hesitate one moment before taking her anger out on her. She needs everything to go perfectly right.

"I know. I'll be careful; and he won't suspect a thing, I promise."

"Are we sure that Klaus still doesn't know about this?" Stefan cuts in, his gaze shifting between the other three people in the room.

"Didn't you guys say Elijah was keeping Katherine a secret from him?" Elena frowns, turning around to look at the two Salvatore brothers.

"Well," the older one answers with a small, almost heedless shrug, "Circumstances have changed."

"Enough to bring the two of them together?" the brunette arches an eyebrow in question, sounding skeptical.

"Perhaps. His majesty definitely knows something is up, why would he have come back to Mystic Falls, otherwise?"

Bonnie sighs, her mind working a mile a minute, stressing and worrying over all the many things that could go wrong with the tentative plan that they have managed to come up with, to get a sample of Elijah's blood. The last one that they need for the spell.

"If Klaus knows, he will get suspicious at Elijah's disappearance."

Damon snorts, earning himself the glares of all the others present in the room.

"The two of them live together. Even if Elijah hasn't told him about Katherine, he will definitely notice his brother missing."

Narrowing her eyes, Bonnie folds her arms across her chest with an annoyed huff.

"What do you suggest we do, then?"

Sighing rather loudly, Damon lets himself fall limply against the cushions of the leather couch, his eyes focusing on the wide ceiling above him.

"Let's just take it one step at a time."

Bonnie scoffs. "We can't afford to be sloppy."

"Alright," he rolls his eyes, mockingly. "Then let's put Blondie on hybrid duty."

At the Salvatore's words, Elena's eyes immediately widen, in a mix of bafflement and upset.

"Are you serious, Damon? Where have you been for the past week?"

"Oh, please. She's all better, already."

Bonnie features harden in a deep scowl, and she shakes her head as Elena berates her boyfriend once again.
