The Forest of Misery-Chapter 3

 I was startled by the loud sound I heard downstairs, so I checked outside if it was already time for me to get up but when I noticed that it was still dawn, then I stood up to investigate what was happening down there. Then I walked stealthily across the room and was making sure that I wouldn't do any sound.

When I was about to open the door Amaterasu jerked his head up and followed me. I silently tiptoed through the steps and noticed that there was a shadowy figure moving from one room to the other. I could feel my hair standing, but I gathered my courage and asked, "Who are you? What are you doing here?" then the shadowy figure stopped moving. That's when I really got scared my legs turned to jelly, and then I could feel it nearing me.

Out of nowhere Amaterasu jumped at the figure sensing that I was in trouble. Then the shadowy figure disappeared like a smoke that was being fanned.

Then I didn't know what happened next.

"Kyllan!?" I heard a worried voice, "Kyllan!?" I heard it again, this time it was shaking me. "Wha!?" I said then touched my temple. "What happened?" I asked. "I don't have any clue." father said, "I just saw you sleeping there." he said pointing to the stairs. Then everything from last night returned to me  like a gun shot. "Owwhhh!" I muttered, "Is something wrong?" he asked worriedly, the only thing I did was shaking my head sideways.

I stood up and hurriedly went to my room where I saw Amaterasu playing with the weird egg like thing. "Be careful with that." I said. I quickly changed my clothes and took the egg figure from Amaterasu. I quickly placed it in my satchel and hurried down with Amaterasu following.

As I strolled in the forest, I heard rustling sounds from the bushes. Thinking it was Seria I shouted,    "Come on don't try to fool me again." the rustling sound got louder. I already felt scared when two goblins jumped out of the bushes, one of the goblins had a pickaxe while the other one had an       axe.  Amaterasu growled at the goblins, but the two goblins remained adamant.

The both of them started to attack me, but they were to slow so I chanted a spell, "Oh tranquillitas vento, qui circumdant me, cooperiunt me cum vestris caligo." then a thick mist covered me and Amaterasu, we tried to escape but the mist wasn't enough. One of the goblins held my arm while the other one took my satchel.  

The mist faded and the two goblins opened my satchel, and took the egg like figure and tore some papers. To my dismay, I saw Amaterasu disappear.

'What do I do?' I thought to myself panicking. Out of nowhere an arrow passed through me and almost hit my attackers, and of fear the goblins scrambled away leaving me and the egg like figure. Then I heard someone jumped from a nearby tree. "Are you fine?" Seria asked, "I guess so." I replied still a bit shaken.

Then I remembered Amaterasu and the torn paper. I tried to put it together, but it was no use. I felt disappointed and stood up putting my spell book back inside my satchel.  

"What's wrong?" I almost forgot Seria standing beside me, "Nothing.."  I said plainly. "Uhmm I think I should go or I'll be late." Then I walked away.

I realized that I was now on the gate. I entered the halls and then bumped unto someone, as I looked up it was Master Zaydock. "I'm truly sorry." I apologized immediately and bowed my head. "What bothers you?" He asked calmly. "I lost Amaterasu." I said still depressed. "And who might that be?" he asked.

Then I told him everything and he said, "You didn't actually lose him..." he said, then I flashed a smile at him, "You just need to summon it back, kindly get your spell book." I took my spell book and gave it to him. He drew the same thing on the paper together with the chant. "Thank you!" thats the only thing I said because of happiness.

I was now on the room with the others and was listening to the lectures for an hour. 

Now it was time for us to leave the room when Master Zaydock called me, "Kyllan! Please stay for a moment." I did as he said and waited for a moment. "You know you have a lot of potential in you." He said to me, "You just have to strive harder." he said still not looking on to me.

I waited for him for a minute and he finally said, "How about becoming my apprentice." he finally said. Shock as I am, I was happy yet confused, I was happy because he choose me to be his apprentice, only people who are worthy are chosen to be an apprentice, and confuse because there are many worthy of that position but why me? I am not worthy to be an apprentice to the Higher Wizard.

Master Zaydock as if reading my mind said, "You just need to believe in yourself." then he walked out of his room. "Ohh! And before I forget, you would have some special lessons that I won't be teaching in class so be sure to be there tomorrow afternoon. "He said and finally left me alone to think.

Then I left the room when it was already afternoon thinking about the offer. 'I finally got to be a wizard's apprentice' I thought as I walked down the path leading to the woods then to town. But a part of me was sad or more likely depressed, many questions popped out of my mind like; What if I failed him, what if I can't do what he asked and plenty more.

I dismissed my thoughts about it and went home directly. "I'm home." I said, then father appeared from the kithcen, "Ohh! You're just in time, lunch is ready." father said joyfully and I followed him. When I finished eating, I went directly to the room changed my clothes and fell to my bed then sleep.
