Hey! I'm back! Enjoy!
Chapter 3
I woke up to being shaken by Gianna.
'Time to get up,' she sang 'You need to shower before breakfast. You have half an hour before the meal,'
I stretched and sat up in the sheets, glancing around and looking for Carter. Swinging my legs out of bed, I yawned and wandered into my bathroom as Gianna left.
'Hi there,' Carter said, sitting on the floor in the bathroom.
'Hey, what are you doing in here?' I asked him.
'Hiding from Gianna, not sure what she'd say about us sleeping together,' he pointed out.
'Well, she's going to notice that you aren't in your cabin,' I pointed out
'Oh, yeah. I've got to go then,' he chuckled, leaving my bathroom and sneaking out my room. After he'd left I quickly undressed and climbed into the shower.
After I had washed my hair and body I climbed out and wrapped myself in one of the fluffy towels and grabbing another one to dry my hair. I got a dark red skirt and white shirt out of the drawers and got changed quickly. I tugged the brush through my hair. By the time I was leaving for breakfast it was dry and back to its natural auburn colour.
'Waiting for me?' I asked Carter and he nodded.
'If I'm annoying you, just say,' he smiled
'Not at all, I like that you're looking out for me,' I laughed as we walked down to dining compartment together.
As we slid into our seats there were servers instantly filling our plates with eggs, ham, fried potatoes and a variety of other foods. A basket of bread rolls were placed in front of both of us and a selection of drinks. One I recognised as orange juice and another was coffee and a rich, brown drink that smelt sweet.
'Hot chocolate,' Draco told us 'You should try it,' I took a sip of it and licked my lips. I took another drink from the cup and put it down to begin eating the mountain of food on my plate.
I ate as much as I could until I felt like I would burst; Draco had told us to eat a lot before the games as it would only help us.
'So got any tips for us?' Carter asked Draco, putting his knife and fork down and pushing his plate away.
'Well, like I said, let your prep teams do what they do best when we get to Capitol but I'm not giving any tips away to both of you,' he said
'No you can do, we are working together,' I told him and he nodded
'Okay, okay. Well at the Cornucopia don't try taking more than one pack or weapon. And run to cover, like a forest if there is one. That's my biggest tip for surviving the bloodbath,' Draco said and we both listened intently. He told us a few more tips until the train lurched a bit.
'We're here!' Gianna grinned, I had forgotten she was still here. It seemed Carter had too since he jumped when she spoke. She herded us towards the door and I couldn't help but stare out of every window at the grand Capitol. I had seen it many times on television but that hadn't quite prepared me for the amazing sight. There were rows after rows of buildings: houses and stores. Unlike the dull grey stone they were made from in the districts, these buildings shone in beautiful colours; lilac, mint green, rose pink and sky blue. Bright, shiny cars dotted the paved roads and on top of all that the peculiarly dresses Capitol people swarmed the train station at the excitement of a tribute train arriving.
The doors slid open and we were ushered out and through the crowds. We followed Draco's orders, waving and smiling at the crowd to begin winning them over. After all, these are the people that will sponsor us. The amount of waving and shrieking and flashing was disorientating to me though and if it wasn't for Carter's arm around my waist I would have probably collapsed the instant I got off the train. We were rushed into a car which would take us to the Training Centre to be prepared for tonight's Opening Ceremony. The ride didn't take long, around ten minutes probably and once we were there Gianna shooed us up the stairs and into the lift to take us to our correct floor where our prep-teams and stylists were awaiting.
