Borno, MaiduguriAisha's wushe-wushe
Aidah's POV
Ya Salam, Maiduguri is incredibly cold today—Subhanallah! It's such a refreshing change. Today marks Aicha's exciting wushe wushe, which will take place beautifully at night after Maghreb, inshallah. Tomorrow is going to be even more special, with the wedding Fatiha and the enchanting k3latul (the traditional washing of the bride's hair), followed by the vibrant Kaulu (the traditional dressing and presentation of the bride). The delightful k3latul will happen in the morning, and the elegant Kaulu will follow in the afternoon, culminating in a wonderful dinner at night. It's going to be a whirlwind of joyous celebrations!
I'm currently sitting on the balcony where we're getting our henna done, though Aicha isn't joining us. She's dressed in a stunning traditional red outfit for the Kaulu, while a talented photographer captures amazing shots of her before the event begins. The atmosphere is filled with excitement as we prepare for the celebrations ahead!
The photographer(BigH) came and snapped the bride and her sisters and niece; Ya Ummi, Nadia, my niece, Aaliya and me.
"Aicha, you better be pregnant by Yassine and Aidah's wedding!" said Ya Ummi, which made us all burst into laughter.
"Come on, Ummi," Aicha said, laughing.

Everyone is running around in a frenzy, getting ready for the wushe-wushe, which is starting in less than an hour. We got our hair done earlier on the balcony, and now I'm dressed in a white and orange traditional outfit, a 'dongashau.' The event will take place in the house, inside a beautifully decorated grand marquee, creating a festive atmosphere for the celebration.
Nadia is currently having her hair done by a woman who lives in their house here in Maiduguri, and she's almost finished. "Ya Aidah, please pass me my water," Nadia said. I handed her the water, then stood up and quietly left the room.
The wushe-wushe started an hour ago, and everyone seems to be having a fantastic time. The usual activities are in full swing, and the bride is dressed in a stunning white outfit. It's a Kanuri wushe-wushe infused with a delightful twist of Chadian traditions, creating a vibrant and unique celebration.
The couple is now dancing to ganga-kura while the elders spray money on them. Meanwhile, I've been trying to take a decent picture for almost thirty minutes. I finally managed to snap one just before my phone died, but it didn't turn out great—my mouth was open as I was talking, and Yassine even photo-bombed it!
