"You're gonna do great, I promise."
Ever since I told my dad about what had been going on, he's been adamant about me going to this meeting and possibly on the tour. Possibly. I told him that I might not even want to go. I also told him that if I go then he should totally get a dog or something. I don't want him to be all alone here.
Today is friday, the day of the meeting. The week has flown by so fast. I haven't had the chance to tell Jax what had been going on because we don't have any classes together and he's been working pretty late shifts these past few weeks, so he's never home. On the other hand, Mila won't hop off my ass about the whole contest thing. She doesn't shut up about it. Ever. But I've grown used to it, and to be honest I'm kind of excited.
It's currently around three o'clock and I'm heading over to Mila's house to get ready for the meeting. According to her, my wardrobe isn't "world tour material" and I need a "makeover to cover up my dead eye'd windows to the soul". It took about ten minutes but I finally arrived at Mila's house.
"Hey girly!" She runs at me as fast as she can and picks me up, twirling me around.
"Mila put me down," I laugh at her, hugging her back.
"Are you ready?"
"As I'll ever be, I guess," I shrug. She takes my hand and drags me up the stairs to the lavender painted swamp that is her room. If you think that my room is dirty, you've never seen Mila's. Her room makes Shrek's swamp look like a museum.
She guides me over at the vanity placed near the oversized window on the opposite side of her room, yelling "watch out!" and "jump!" over random obstacles in her room. I swear to god I saw something crawl out from under the bed, but I ignore that, pushing my fears aside and plopping down on the the chair in front of the mirror.
Mila starts with my hair, straightening it before adding a beach-wave texture, which is actually quite cute. She spins me around away from the mirror and starts on my makeup. I've never been one to wear makeup and I've honestly never really done it on myself. The last time I really wore makeup was at my cousin's wedding last year. My face felt so heavy that I almost hurt to smile.
Mila grabs an egg-like sponge thingy and dabs it into a foundation concoction that she made, claiming that it's "my color". I didn't think I was that pale, but I guess I might be proven wrong. She dips into a brightly hued eyeshadow palette with a fluffy brush and tells me to close my eyes. I have no clue what color she's picking but I swear if she picks green we're gonna have a problem.
After about fifteen minutes, she leaves and comes back with an outfit under her arms.
"You can't see the look until it's totally complete so go and change in the closet and tell me when you're ready to come out," she says and practically shoves me in the closet causing me to stumble and nearly face plant.
"Jeez, alright," I say and close the closet door, turning on the light. She's picked out a red lace-trimmed cami and an off the shoulder black sweater to go with it, showing off the cute intricate design. As for the bottoms, she pulled out a pair of high-waisted, black jeans that are ripped at one knee and paired it with a loopy gold belt and black, chunky heeled booties. It's a cute outfit I have to admit. I've never worn red before so I guess I'll be surprised as to how I look. I don't wear a lot of color actually. The brightest thing in my closet is probably that blue sweatshirt but other than that, you'll only find a lot of black, greys, and neutral tones. I knock on the door, signaling that I've finished changing and am ready to come out.
She opens the doors and gasps.
"You must be a genie because this is exactly what I wished for!" She squeals and leads me over to her mirror, I'm guessing. My eyes are still closed at her request. I feel a cool sensation on the back of my neck as Mila drapes over some kind of necklaces followed by shoving rings on my fingers. "Three....two....one!"
