Chapter 8

"I'm just another lingering thought"

Originally Jungkook was heading over to Jimin to talk. He knew he was headed to the Greek house by Taehyung and he was nearby from the meeting he had went to earlier, so this was perfect timing, or was. Now he's getting this bruised fist treated from attacking another student. Lucky for him he wasn't reported after he explained what happened. He was let go with a lecture about violence being the wrong path and given a brochure that talked about ways to manage your anger, which also had anger management counseling contact info on the back. Jungkook doesn't need that, it's not like he's done this before anyway, but seeing that jerk hurting Jimin made him see red.

Kook was looking over his bandaged hand as he started getting a call from Taehyung, who immediately called him after hearing what happened from Jimin. Taehyung wanted to make sure Kook was okay, especially after learning he walked off with the knocked out alpha on his shoulder while hardly saying anything to Jimin. His behavior is a little concerning to Taehyung, but the omega has yet to bring up his worries about Kook. Jungkook reassures the omega that he's okay and makes an excuse to not meet up with him for lunch. Though Kook reassures Taehyung about how he's feeling, everything he says isn't entirely true. He doesn't know what he's feeling but he doesn't want his friend to worry about him til he can confirm what it is he's going through himself.

The holidays are right around the corner and Kook's grandparents have been calling him more than usual. They want him to stay with them for the holidays and til school starts back up. The holidays mean seeing his parents and watching everyone coo over their new child while actively ignoring him, which puts him in a dark hole. His grandparents try to include him, but it just feels like pity. He rather stay at the dorms and be alone then hang around people who go out of their way to make it obvious they don't want him around.

Jungkook can avoid that part of the holiday but he can't stop the weird feeling that comes over him from noticing Jimin has been around him less and less. It makes him worry that he'll be left behind or replaced. He doesn't want to be alone again.

Jungkook is snapped out of his thoughts as he hears his roommate scoring it up. They only has a bathroom to share but the walls are so thin that it sounds like they are in the room with him. It grosses him out. Kook put on his headphones, clicks on a random playlist he created, and head back out for a walk. His walk brings him to a nearby fast food place from the lack of food he has consumed today, and to avoid seeing Tae and Jimin in the cafeteria. He gets his food and looks around for a place to seat and spots SeokJin in the far corner alone on his laptop with a coffee. He decides there's no harm in sitting with a familiar face, especially since they'll be seeing each other a lot more for the next two weeks.

"What do you want, Jeon", Jin asks bored as he stops typing to look at the alpha that's making himself comfortable in the seat across from him. Jin saw Jungkook when he entered the place but was thinking the alpha wouldn't try to talk with him if he saw that he was busy.

"Noting, I just didn't want to eat alone", Jungkook says as he unwraps his food. Jin glances at him before going back to his computer and he counts down from five in his head and right as he gets to one, Jungkook starts to talk. He knew he wouldn't be getting any more work down with Kook here. The friends of Taehyung and Jimin are always talkative.

"Have you noticed the development in Jimin and Min Yoongi's relationship? It's strange, right", Jungkook asks. He knows Jin is the head of the news department so he's the right person to ask. When the student's newspaper was active, Jimin and Yoongi always had a column that talked about their recent "couple" behavior.

"Is it", Jin answers back with a question, and Jungkook sighs.

"Yes, that's why I'm asking. It's super strange. They are getting along too well all of a sudden", Jungkook feels frustrated but to calm himself down he takes a bite out of his burger and sips some of his soda down.
