As the heavens brush against these inner tears
and upon hidden truth they seem to draw
Let us lay down these clinging fears
and wounds so old yet still quite raw
If stars like dreams one day decay
will even the reasons fade away?
Will we forget why we risked all we know
to reach the places we longed to go?
In a box I found your story
buried beneath my own pride
and now no longer can I only
just take it all in even strides
You were the whispers of a world in waiting
You were part of my own mind debating
whether to walk toward this end
or jump the steeple and start again
The streets were deep in dust and coal
even then the universe seemed old
But we were only your teardrops then
when you could not see this place or end
Now in a vacuum of a world asleep
I pray for the guidance to find and keep
this precious line that came long before
all these who find excuses to ignore
I ask you forgive impatient youth
who balk at the past and the truth
Give us time to dig past our own way
and find what your life still tells us today
