"Today is the day! The day that I will finally confess my love!" A girl said while looking at her mirror image before going out to meet her crush. Her light-brown hair was in a ponytail and make-up enhanced her blue eyes, she wanted to look particularly pretty.
Ever since waking up, the whole morning, she was trying to muster up all of her courage. The waiting period for expressing her true feelings was too long, about three years. As she walked outside the whole town seemed brighter and lovelier than ever before, everything seemed as though it was sparkling. She had a great feeling, like she could fly. Right before the meeting place a street musician was preparing to play.
"Hey mister! Could you play me a love song? I will pass here with my new boyfriend so I thought I could make it romantic."
"A love song? No, a requiem would be more suitable for you."
"How morbid... And I was ready to pay you double from what you usually get, creep."
After the incident she took a bit of time to calm herself before the important time. Alright, I am doing this, in this day and age it is expected for girls to make the first move, sorry for making you wait so long Aaron. All of her acquaintances already figured out that love is binding the two of them, everyone was cheering her on.
"Aaron" She saw a familiar tall figure with red hair. He had kind brown eyes and dressed formally as usual.
"Oh, you're here Lacey."
"I'm so glad we could meet today. There is something important I need to tell you."
I am not scared, I will say it. Thoughts about her soon confession made her embarrassed so she stared down on the street, avoiding his eyes.
"You won't mind if someone joins us today?" He asked her, completely ignoring her weird reactions.
"Someone? Who?" She was quite confused. It was supposed to be a date, why must there be disturbances. Sure, she didn't tell him about her exact plans but he could figure them out, after all this is the first time they are meeting on a free day like this.
Another girl was slowly approaching them. She was small and overweighed, not cute at all. Good, this girl could not be my rival, I am much better looking, and I have just the right sizes. I am tall and slim.
"I'm so glad you could join us Mary." He greeted the girl. "You two don't know each other, right? Lacey, this is my girlfriend."
She just stood there feeling empty, without reactions, caught in one pose just like a sculpture. Mary probably greeted her and then she was all over Aaron. He has a girlfriend of whom I knew nothing. She was caught off guard, unable to quite comprehend the disaster that happened.
"Oh, right, I almost forgot, you had something important to tell me, what was it?" He said that with a kind smile which looked like a perfect lie.
His kindness was not supposed to be directed toward me, he has a girlfriend, why is he acting like everything was normal. Maybe I was misunderstanding him all this time.
"Aaron I... "She started but couldn't finish it, she finally comprehended what happened. Lacey turned her back to the lovely-dovey couple and started running.
Feelings like betrayal, sadness, loneliness, a mix of negative emotions consumed her. She was trying to find the logic for the recent event. Aaron was always nice to her, after classes in college were over they would often hang out together, smiling, talking about college and all sorts of stuff. She asked him once if he had a girlfriend, the answer was no. After that everything continued normally, everybody who saw them thought that there was something between them. Lacey was an innocent girl, inexperienced with love, so she needed a lot of time to realize her feelings and convey them.
