Today...

I really hate recess. Especially in the winter time. Chicago gets so cold. Chicago really only has two seasons: summer and winter. In the summer it's really hot and in the winter its hella cold. Luckily, I can talk to my friends which makes recess time fly faster. Today we were talking about how mad Ruby was at her ex - boyfriend, Aidan. Aidan has been confused as to why she broke up with him.

"Did you explain to him," I asked.

"I told himthat I needed time to myself and if he was still confused he could just ask me and I would explain but then he would just walk away!"

"That's bogus! He said he was confused and now he doesn't want answers? Makes no sense."

"I can't believe I ever liked him," Ruby said under her breath shaking her head.

I could. In the beginning of the year when she had a crush on him, Bruno and I had to time her and see how long she could go without staring Aidan.

September: In the beginning of the year...

"Okay. Try not to look at Aidan for ten minutes. I think you can do it," I had told her
"No I can't! He's just so cute!"
"You don't see me staring at Henry do you?"
"No Was because he's ugly."
I rolled my eyes and looked at the clock. Henry is cute. But I think he's dating Samantha. They always hang out with each other.
"It's 2:50 so try not to stare at him for ten minutes."
"That's hard, Ramiyah!"
"He's behind you. He's not even in your line of vision. I think you can manage."
"No I can't," Ruby mumbled.
I grinned and shook my head. It's only been a minute. I don't think she'll make it.

December: Today...

"I heard Aidan say that there's no spark between you two and that he never wants to date you again," Lilyana explained.
Ruby looked stunned. "To who?!"
"To Helen."
"Wow, just...wow!" Ruby exclaimed, in anger.
"He doesn't have to go around tellin people that he doesn't wanna be with you! That's so over dramatic. And that's coming from me!" I added.
"I can't believe that bitch! Ugh! I'm so mad!"
Now Ruby was pacing back and forth.
"Wanna meet up at Robust tomorrow?" I asked.
"Yes," Lilyana and Ruby responded in unison.
Robust is the coffee shop we go to when we don't want to talk about certain things at school. Robust is like our safe haven. It's away from everyone else. Everyone else goes to McDonald's or Dunkin' Donuts for coffee. We go to Robust. On Saturday morning, we met up at Robust and sat on the the stool chairs as usual. I ordered the caramel macchiato -as always-, Ruby ordered the caramel frappe and Lilyana ordered her usual mocha frappe.

"So," I said after taking a sip of my coffee. "What are we going to do with Aidan?"

"I say we get revenge on him," Ruby answered with wearing an evil look on her face. "He cannot get away with this."

"I agree," Lilyana said.

"So what do you want to do?"

"I have a friend. I'll pretend that I'm with her and talk about her 24/7! In front of Aidan. That'll definitely make him jealous," Ruby explained, smiling.

"Yes!" Lilyana exclaimed.

I looked at them awkwardly. It was an okay idea.

"I guess we could do that," I told Ruby.

"Do you have a better idea?"

"Well not a full one. But talking about a girl is not going to get his attention. But maybe you could find something that can get in his head, you know? Something or someone that brings out a weakness of his."

"I don't really know any weaknesses, do you, Lily?" Ruby asked. She shook her head. "Then until we find one, let's stick with the original plan." We all agreed.
