Useless

Worthless

We dont want you here

Hope you die

These thoughts have been running through the mind of Soul Kirishima as she walks through the school halls, the words echoed with the voices of her classmates and those who she once believed were her friends. Adjusting the sleeves on her air-force jacket, she tried to blend into the background, trying to avoid any kind of attention.

She didnt understand what could have caused it, the sudden rumors and the bullying, it seemed to have just come out of the blue, but what shocked her the most was when she overheard her friends talking to the popular group about how her mum left Soul and her dad for someone else a few weeks after all this shit started.

The teachers tried to intervene in the beginning but it proved useless when they couldnt figure out who did what, now it has escalated so bad that some students have almost killed her and the teachers did nothing, just stood by and watched. Though she could handle it, for her dad was the best support she could ever have. Well, had anyways. Her life fell apart when she received the news from her fathers superiors, telling her that her father had died trying to eliminate a group of terrorists in Iraq. She had never cried so much in her life.

That was six months ago and school wont let her forget anything, even that fact that she tried the hang herself when she heard the news about her father, though the rope ended up snapping when she tried. The red marks and rope burns on her neck stayed for a week, so the school found out quickly.

A bunch of jocks found Soul skulking about, trying to hide, and walked up to her, shoving the poor girl into the locker, bringing her back from unpleasant memories, look who we have here boys, its the faggot who tries to make everyone feel sorry for her.

Soul coughed from the impact and laughed slightly, thats a long sentence, especially for you Markus, who knew you had it in you?

Markus snarled at her while his friends were struggling to withhold the laughter that threatens to come forth. That is the only thing that Soul can use as a defence, the use of comedy, and if it embarrass people at the same time? All the better, being called out about something by the least desired kid in the school, your reputation could go down the drain depending on who is around, and being able to crack a joke in a dangerous situation makes them believe that youre not afraid, even when you are.

With that, Markus threw Soul to the floor and proceeded to kick in the ribs before walking away, snickering with his mates. Soul stayed on the floor, coughing up blood, the kick to her ribs more painful than she would like to admit. The bell rang as she slowly got up, leaning on the lockers for support, hugging her ribs. She slowly staggered to the nurses office on the other side of the school, wincing and occasionally hissing in pain at every step.

Eventually, Soul arrived at the nurses office, trying so hard to hold back the tears that threaten to escape, not wanting to show anymore signs of weakness than she already is by coming here. When the nurse saw her, she just rolled her eyes at Soul and gestured to one of the beds lining the wall. Soul cautiously walked over and sat on the bed, her back to the door as to avoid anyone from actually recognising her in her present state.

can you take off you jacket and lift your shirt, please? I need to see what injurys may be visible. Said the nurse, causing Soul to look up at her and shake her head, fear evident in her eyes, glancing at the door. The nurse smiled sympathetically as she murmured an apology as she went and shut the door, only then did Soul take off her jacket to reveal the scars, some freshly made and some really old. only the nurse, Jessica her name was, knew the exact reason why she didnt want anyone to see her and the real reason Soul wears the jacket, even when its hot. Souls depression had escalated to where she would slice her arm open with any kind of object, sharp if wanting to distract the pain, blunt if it were serious.

She then removed her shirt, not wanting to hold it in place, to show even more scars and bruises across her back and shoulders. The nurse sighed, noticing some of them were also new. Since Soul is now an orphan and still in school, she has to live in a foster home until she is old enough to move out, and the guy who lives there isnt exactly nice. One false move, one little thing out of place, and Soul would be punished, beaten badly. Sometimes, the man would come home drunk and rape the poor child for hours on end, and if he wasnt satisfied, he would either beat her or keep raping her or sometimes both.

Soul stared blankly at the wall in front of her, wincing every now and again when Jess brushed her fingers over a tender bruise or fresh cut. In the end, Nurse Jess wrapped Souls torso and wrists after disinfecting the cuts and told her to rest for as long as she needed. Soul nodded and carefully laid down on the bed, trying not to aggravate any sensitive nerves, not bothering to put her shirt back on and fell asleep.

A few hours later, Soul woke to the sound of two people talking behind her. She bolted right up, ignoring all the pain, looking over in horror to see someone staring at her while Jess was treating her.

Soul didnt know this person, so she must have been new. She had asymmetrical white hair from the right side of her hair being just above the ear to the left side at shoulder length. Her eyes were the colour of blood which looked amazing next to her pale skin. She wore knee high black heeled boots with black ripped jeans, a black shirt with a little skull on the front of the shoulder, a shirt soul reckoned to be Overwatch Reaper merch, the same shirt she wanted, on the back it would say The Reaper Comes for Your Soul which of course Soul found very intriguing.

um Hi? the girl in front of her said with a strong Texas accent, causing Soul look away quickly, her face going red when she realized she was staring.

um, yeah, hi, Im, uh, Soul, but you probably already know the rumors surrounding me Soul inquired, a tear slipping down her face.

What? Those rumors? I think there a load of shit, how people are bullying you because your different from them.

Soul frowned, what?

The girl cocked her head to the side, you didnt know? The reason this all started is because some person told the cheerleaders that you were lesbian, at least thats what one of the jocks told me.

Soul just stared at her as the tears streamed down her face. She buried her face in her hands in an attempt to staunch the flow of tears.

if it makes you feel any better, I punched the guy square in the face, broke his nose too. He got a few punches in as well before the teachers intervened, She said, smirking

Soul stared at her in disbelief, seriously?

The girl nodded, the names Ashe by the way.

Soul smiled and nodded, what made you punch him anyway?

Ashe laughed, two reasons, one because I hate bullies and two, I am actually a lesbian myself.

Soul blushed and looked away once again, smiling at the fact that she may no longer be alone any more, that she might actually find a true friend in Ashe.
