As it says in the description, I wrote this scene after watching the ending of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag where (to avoid spoilers I'll leave out names ;) ) a woman sings an Irish folk song - The Parting Glass. I wrote this as a One Shot, but I'm not sure where it will go, I could make a whole fan fiction with it, I might add it in to Side Effects of the Blight, I might leave it as a One Shot. I don't know yet :P

Song from Black Flag to the side --->

Standing there, looking down at Her figure, I could scarcely believe this was real. Queen Anora was saying prayers and thanks for the passed Warden, but I really wasn't listening. Gently, I ran my fingers through Her hair and studied Her beautiful features.

"Would anyone like to say anything?" Asked the queen, looking to me.

I took a deep breath, gazing in to the eyes of the mourning crowd. "Most of you didn't know Seren Tabris - to the "nobles" of you she was just another 'knife-eared wench' from the alienage," I bit my tongue, regretting the cruelty that had crept in to my voice. "I... I knew Seren, very well. Besides being a highly skilled warrior and a fantastic leader, she... she was my best friend. My guide. My motivation. The one bright light in these blighted lands. She was the first woman I've ever felt like this about - and I doubt I'll ever feel this way again.

"This damned Blight took away my brother, my mentor, and my sense of belonging. Then - as if in apology - the Maker gave me Seren Rayne Tabris. I love her. We were engaged..." I gulped and raised my gaze skyward; up to the Maker. "But He giveth, and He taketh away. And now?" My voice rose, and it wasn't long before I was shouting in the holy halls of the Denerim Chantry. "Now you've taken her from me, too! I have nothing. Nothing!" I looked down at Seren's pained expression and, slowly - without thinking - pressed my lips lightly against hers. Straightening up, I saw the crowd staring at me.

"Goodnight, and joy be with you all," I snapped, bitterly, swiping away a few tears.

One woman in the crowd stood and smiled kindly at me. "But since it falls, unto my lot," she sang.

The man next to her joined in. "That I should rise, and you should not,"

Then, the whole Chantry rose and sang along. "I'll gently rise, and softly call: 'Goodnight, and joy be with you all',"

They all fell silent, waiting for me to respond. Tears now streamed down my face. Carefully, I ran my thumb down Seren's cheek as I sang: "So fill to me, the Parting Glass. Goodnight, and joy be with you all,"

I doubled over my lover's body, sobbing. "Rest in peace, my love. I love you - always,"
