Hello, author here, this is my first story ever (I know I'm saying that again) and I'm really nervous, so any positive feedback would be appreciated. Any feedback concerning mistakes is also helpful, so please comment on my mistakes. If anyone is offended by anything, I'll remove it. Sorry thank you! P.S. Love this song!^^^
I got out of bed, tired from not sleeping a wink. Today was the day I left my home and my town to go to the most famous academy for magicians. The school's name is Barona Academy for the Gifted. I got accepted into this school by taking a scholarship test and, not surprisingly, passed. In my small town of Catallinga, I was said, by the town members, to be the smartest one there. I didn't believe them one bit though. I just read a lot as a kid and the stuff I read stuck pretty well in my mind. Although the books I read were high level reading material.
As I got ready for the day, I also packed some things that I might need for the train ride to Mariona, the city where the academy is located. Last night, I packed all of my clothes, accessories, and photos. I walked into the bathroom and undressed. I walked into the shower and let the cold water soothe my head. I needed a cold shower to cool off from thinking all night.
After I was done in the shower, I got dressed into dark blue jean shorts and a black, short-sleeved crop top with a purple lightning bolt in the center. I brushed out my long purple-blue hair and put pins on one side.
I should probably tell you a bit about myself. My name is Levyna Raiden and I am 16 years old. I live in an orphanage in the center of town. Therefore, I am an orphan. My parents died 5 years ago when I was 11. They died in a car accident; my dad was driving while both of them were drunk with me in the back of the car. We got into an accident and I couldn't walk properly for a year, my spinal cord was messed up. It still is pretty messed up, but I can handle it.
I should probably also tell you that my parents weren't the nicest people. To put it bluntly, they were abusive and neglectful. My parents would starve me, beat me, and curse at me often. The town new of my parents, but were too afraid to do anything.
I think I had it pretty bad, but better than other people who didn't have parents at all. Well actually not having parents who were abusive is probably better, but that's not my place to say. Anyway, sorry back to the topic at hand.
As for my gift, I have the ability of lightning. When I use my lightning any occurance, the lightning is always purple. My ability can be used to turn any electronics on and off, like phones, televisions, and lights, and much more. I also can use my ability in medical occurrences, though it only happened once, I saved a man in my town when he had a heart attack, not to brag or anything. My lightning can be used for fighting as well, it packs a pretty mean punch, if I do say so myself, and I do say so myself.
I should probably clarify. Ugghhhhhh. That's a lot of work, Okay. Sorry, I'm lazy. Growing up in a small town means that we are easily picked on by thugs that think they can take over my town. They thought wrong obviously, since I'm here. You can probably guess what happens after they think that. I get involved and let's ay there's a high hospital bill. Hehe.
Now my parents. My mom had the ability of clouds (stormy clouds). She could control if the sky was cloudy or not and if it was dark out, like hiding the sun. She was practically like a weather woman. My dad had the ability of sound. He could create certain frequencies that hurt like a b****. He could make the clouds my mom made sound like thunder was coming from them. His ability scared and hurt me the most.
When I was finished packing and getting ready, I looked in the mirror. I saw an unrecognizable girl staring back at me for whom I did not recognize anymore since my parents death. I was happier and healthier though you could see a painful past in my eyes and some scars. The scars didn't bother me anymore, so I could stand to show them. I had long blue/ purple hair, purple eyes, rosy lips, and thin (on fleek) eyebrows. The scars were mostly on my back, although mostly faded. I headed out of my room to the kitchen where Diane, the owner of the orphanage, was cooking breakfast. I dropped my bag on the floor to notify everyone I was down.
