A/N: Hello dears. Just a little heads up. I am aware that the last chapter and its ending may have been pretty intense to read. The truth is, this chapter might also feel intense, but I hope you will enjoy it for the story it's telling and understand my intention here. I would never want to trigger anyone, however I always put my feelings in my works and I think you can tell that by the tone of my stories. I'll have to ask you to trust that I'd never put anything scary in a story for the sake of shocking anyone, it's all means to an end. I am an adult and hence the mature nature and rating of my stories. Thank you for taking the time to read this and hopefully you enjoy. Love always, A.

*When you fell, you fell towards me

When you crashed in the clouds, you found me*

I let out a stifled whimper and reach for his wrist to feel his pulse. At first, I can't feel anything in my frenzy. All I can sense is my own heartbeat pounding in my body. Panicking, I move over to press my ear against Brian's chest and listen. It's faint but it's there! I sigh and wrap my arms around him.

"Thank God you're alive, I-I..." I break down again and my tears soak his shirt.

"I am so sorry Brian." I whisper, still unable to process what just happened. But then I feel warm droplets trickle down my face and jump up in horror. He is bleeding!

I can't reach over him and see the injury properly in the dim light. I have to get out of the car. Cautiously, with shaking knees, I walk around the animal body on the ground without looking too closely. There are dark streaks down the hood, seeping into the dust.

My windshield is shattered on the passenger side and as I open the door to where Brian is, I see the myriad of shards on the floor. There are red cuts on his arm and shoulder, on his temple, slowly oozing blood. The realization that all of this is my fault hits me like a ton of bricks and I double down as if from a physical blow.

Without thinking, I rip the hem of my dress from end to end. Very gently, I lift his head up and wrap the fabric around his forehead as a bandage. I do the same with his arm, rolling up his sleeves methodically, almost mechanically. I can hardly feel the summer heat or hear the crickets chirping around. I need to get him out of here now, time is of essence. Once he is cleaned up and bandaged, I step outside one more time. I walk around to make sure there is no fluid leaks and the tires are intact. Last thing I want is the car breaking down completely when Brian is in such a precarious state.

I sit in the driver's seat and let a shaky breath out. Please work, please, please work, I mumble to myself, biting my lips. Despite all the damage to the windshield and a broken headlight, I manage to start the engine. I make my turn with great effort, cringing at the horrible thump sound the car makes upon contact with the deer. Once we are back on the road, I speed up, praying I can get him home on time without getting in another accident. I peek at his unconscious form from time to time, but the prospect of all the things that could be wrong with him is terrifying. I have no idea how much of the blow got absorbed by Brian's body, but the fact that he got knocked out makes my blood run cold.

In what feels like an eternity later, I finally drive up to the cottage. I run straight inside, bursting into the kitchen to find my dad reading a book by the fireplace. He looks up and chokes on his tea at the sight of me. Pale and disheveled, with a ripped dress covered in blood and dirt, I must have scared the living daylights out of him. My dad jumps out of his chair and kneels to the ground in front of me.
