"Oh, you're here, Sohye," Mingyu greets me with a wide smile as I approach the counter at Honeybee's Café. Returning his smile, I reply, "Hello, Mingyu!"
After our brief exchange, I head to the staff room to change. Working part-time at the café has been helping me fund my college expenses for a few weeks now.
"How's uni?" Mingyu asks as I return to his side at the counter.
Tying my apron around my waist, I respond, "Just the usual stuff. I'm getting the hang of it."
Mingyu nods, focusing on brewing tea for a customer who ordered just a while ago.
He's a fine arts major at the same campus and quite popular among women, both on and off campus. It's no surprise, given his handsome looks and charismatic personality.
"Welcome to Honeybee's!" The chime of the door interrupts our conversation as I glance towards the entrance. With closing hours approaching, there are only a few customers left in the café.
"Oh, Wonwoo hyung! What are you doing here so late?" Mingyu's voice startles me as he greets someone beside me. I turn and see Jeon Wonwoo, the same man who introduced me to Peach Perfect, standing there.
My heart skips a beat as our eyes meet. What a coincidence!
"Hello, Mingyu," Wonwoo responds in his characteristic low voice, his gaze fixed on the menu at the counter.
"You haven't been here for weeks, hyung. I thought you were dead or something," Mingyu jokes, earning a less-than-amused look from Wonwoo.
Wonwoo shakes his head before ordering his usual. "I'll take the usual."
Mingyu glances at me. "Can you please make a large cup of caramel latte?"
I nod, grateful for the distraction as I turn to prepare the drink.
"Is she new?" I hear Wonwoo ask, and I freeze, feeling his gaze on me.
Mingyu chuckles. "It's her second week here. She caught on fast with things."
Wonwoo's chuckle rumbles through the air, sending a strange sensation through my stomach.
Why am I feeling like this?
"Here's your order," I manage to say, trying to compose myself as I place the drink on the counter, avoiding eye contact with Wonwoo.
"Are you coming to TOY later?" His unexpected question catches me off guard, and I can't help but stare at him in disbelief.
Oh no, did he just ask me that in front of Mingyu?
Mingyu beats me to a response. "Oh, right! I have been invited for a game later so I think I'll be coming to the playground. The points are pretty rewarding. I need a few extra cash," he says casually.
I gape at Mingyu, shocked by his sudden admission.
My reaction seems to amuse Wonwoo, who bursts out laughing, leaving Mingyu looking confused. "Hyung, what's so funny?" Mingyu asks.
Wonwoo finally composes himself enough to answer, his gaze shifting between Mingyu and me. "Oh, it's nothing. It's been a while since you last visited. Nana noona has been asking for you."
At the mention of Nana, Mingyu blushes and scratches the back of his head, looking bashful. "Oh, really? Then I should really come over then."
Wonwoo chuckles again, his eyes briefly meeting mine before he responds. "You should."
I can't shake the feeling that Wonwoo's words were directed at me.
He took the drink and sipped through the straw before nodding to Mingyu and waltzed out of the café.
