Another day of school is past. While waiting for Happy to pick you up, you get a text from your Father.

Dad
Happy won't be picking you up today. You are free to go. Be home by six to do your homework.

You are filled with excitement, but also frustration. You are glad to be let out, but you have such little time. Better make the best of it.

You run into an alley to change into your suit. You quickly pull on the black, leathery suit that fits your body perfectly. You slip the mask over your head and pull your ponytail through the hole at the top. You hide your backpack underneath a dumpster and with a push of a button on your chest, your silver, glittering cape rolls to your calves and the suit tightens slightly. You bounce around excitedly.
"Oh yes... now we're talking!" you mutter. With a woop you jump high into the air and swoop off deep into the cluster of New York.

Your biggest goal is to spot Spiderman, but you feel guilty about it. You should want to help someone... not spot another hero doing work meant for you. You try to focus on your surroundings.

A scream reaches your ears. You see a man grabbing an old lady's purse. Your heart swells. How dare he! You fly after him.
"Stop!" you yell, your voice slightly muffled by the mask. The man turns and spots you, but runs faster. You don't want to use your powers on first try, so you chase after him.
"Stop, now!" you yell again, but the man tries to dodge into an alley. You wave your hand and vines burst out of the ground to grab his ankles. He falls over and tries to get loose. You snatch the purse and sling it over your shoulder. With another wave of your hand, you make the vines form a cocoon around the thief.
"I'll be right back! Don't leave!" you command, and you fly back to the lady to whom the purse belongs to return it to her.
"Your purse, ma'am," you say kindly. The lady looks at you gratefully and takes your hands in hers.
"Thank you so much, miss..." she thanks you shakily.
"Magician. You may call me Magician, ma'am. And it's a pleasure." You fly off towards the thief. Your father taught you to make conversations short to avoid anything slipping.

You grab the thug and start dragging him towards the police station. A thwipping sound gains your attention and you see a large spiderweb clinging to your cocooned thug before it's snatched away from you.
"Hey!" you yell and you follow your catch. You fly over the buildings and spot a blue and red figure swinging between the buildings with your bait following it.
"Spiderman," you mutter and chase after him.

Luckily, you are much faster than he is and you catch up with him quickly. You throw a fireball at the next web he shoots and with a yell, he falls. You quickly fly towards him and catch him and your bait just before they hit the ground. You set Spiderman down on the ground carefully and you grab the cocoon. You speed towards the police station as fast as you can. Spiderman doesn't catch up to you.

You turn the thief in and the police thanks you gratefully, since the thief was on the run for a long time. You leave the station as fast as possible.

It's only five o'clock, so you buy yourself an ice cream and sit on a building to celebrate your first heroic act. You finish the ice-cream and sit to enjoy the sunset. You feel something tighten around your wrist. Before you can look at what it could be, you are pulled down an alley. You see a web clinging to your arm. You struggle to get it loose.
"You won't be getting that loose anytime soon, so don't even try," a voice reaches your ears.

The red and blue figure of Spiderman emerges from the shadows. More webs suddenly cover your whole body, trapping you against the wall.
"What the heck, man!" you yell. You set the webs on fire, and as they burn away, you could swear that you saw surprise cross Spiderman's masked face.
"My suit'll get dirty," you hiss "and you don't want that."

With a flick of your wrist, vines clasp around Spiderman's wrists and ankles. He struggles, trying to free himself, but you tighten your hold on him
"Why did you take the thug from me? I was taking him to the police station!" you say angrily.
"Oh! I thought..."
"That I'm a bad guy?"
"Yeah. I'm sorry, I..."
"You better be sorry. You wasted my time. And now my suit's dirty."
"I'm... sorry."
An awkward silence passes between you for a few minutes.
"Are you gonna let me go now? I kinda have... stuff to do..." Spiderman says, tugging at the vines.
"Oh! Yeah, sorry. I forgot," you say, and you release him.

Spiderman rubs his ankles and wrists, and just before leaving, he inclines his head and folds his arms.
"What's your name, though. You know mine, so, what's yours?"
You hesitate for a moment, nearly telling him your real name.
"The Magician. But Magician's just fine," you answer. Spiderman nods.
"Well, then, I'll see you around, Magician! Tomorrow?" he asks, holding his fist out for a fist-bump. Just like Peter always does. With a smile you bump his fist with yours.
"Yeah, I guess! Tomorrow." you answer.
Spiderman nods, waves and thwips away. You return home five minutes early.
