"You know them?" Ian asks.

I grumble and look straight at Zander, my hands balling into fists. He shoots me a smirk, obviously liking my discomfort. "No," I deny a little too quickly.

"Ouch, that's hurts Sweeheart. Anyway, why is such a little girl like this playing this sort of game? Shouldn't you be on the sidelines with your little pigtails and pompoms cheering me on?" he chuckleds darkly. I clench my hands tighter, before letting my arms cross over my chest.

"What? Afraid I'll kick your sorry butt into the dirt?" I smirk. Preston gets the displeasure that's surrounding us, and quickly interferes.

"Okay let's just-" but I cut him off mid-sentence.

"Let's play." Zander and his little lackeys head off the their area to prepare, while the boys and I scowl at their retreating backs. Of all the places he could've showed up, it had to be at our paintball game.

"How are we supposed to win? They look really tough," Alex let out a sigh. My scowl deepens at the statement before I sharply turn to continue the maintenance of my equipment.

"And old," a frown appeared on Ian's face. I slam my hands against the table, and turn my head to look at the four of them.

"They're no different from the rest of the opponents we've faced," I say with determination in my voice. "This is our turf, not their's. We stick with plan C." Alex grins and slings an arm around my shoulders.

"That's our girl! Always the optimistic!" he laughs, but Dax, Ian, Preston, and Christian are thinking other things.

"No, we don't go with plan C," Dax says sternly. I turn to him with an arched eyebrow. "Avs, these guys are from the bad side of the city. They know how to cheat. Bad. I'm not risking you going with plan C." I groan and roll my eyes in annoyance. Basically, plan C was everyone except three of us would engage the opposing team on the field, while the three take through the forest, staying hidden, to reach the other team's flag.

Unfortunately, plan C consisted of Alex, Christian, and I as the small group, and being the big, over protective brothers that almost everyone of them were, didn't want to risk me being away from most of the team. Yeah, I'm the baby sister, and at times like this, I hate it. "Come on Dax, I'm not a little girl!"

"You are in our eyes," Ian cuts in, earning a glare from me. "And we will look at you that way if it keeps you safe." I cross my arms stubbornly, and stomp my foot, proving Ian's point but I didn't care.

"Plan C is the only winning choice we have," I argue. "And everyone knows the reason I'm part of getting the flag instead of shooting in the field is because I'm smaller and can get to places faster without making much noise!"

"That's true but-" I cut Dax off.

"What? Since when did you become sexist?" I inquire, anger fuming at their prejudice. "You think I can't go up against some stupid, downtown idiots just because I've got breasts?!" I march up to Dax and press a finger to his chest. "Let me tell you buddy, I may lack in the muscles department, but I make up for it with attitude and smarts!" Placing my hands on my hips, I glare at the our leader as he scratches the back of his head. I knew that he knew what I said was true.

Dax glances at the rest of the guys, while I tap my fingers on my hip, waiting for their answer. With a reluctant sigh and an unapproving expression he gives in saying, "Alright, but I'm having you take Ian along with you this time." I break into a smile and wrap my arms around his neck.

"Thank you," I say. Yeah, I'm fickle alright. Dax tries to keep his stern face on, but fails miserably.

"Seriously Avs, be careful," he says, ruffling my hair. The host for tonight's game calls the players to get to their bases before the game starts. Quickly the boys and I put on our gas tanks and masks, slipping the pods into the pod packs on our waists. Our base was always on the east side of the clearing in the forest. Before we make our way to our places though, we meet Zander's team and him and Dax shake hands, tension hanging in the air.
