Avery
It had been a week since our mission to Mihtor and the crew was running smoothly. Our next few missions had been easy drop-offs and a few trips to other spacecrafts for intel exchange. A week since Dune had taken a bullet for me. I still had a hard time processing the scene, visions of a past event mixing in with Dune. I'd done my best to steer clear of him since then, not wanting to get any closer to him than I already had. I'd been waking up from evocative dreams of our bodies colliding like they did that day, his chiseled chest weighing down on me as his coarse hands ran through my hair and over my body.
I didn't even like him like that, and I mean he took a bullet for me, but I didn't want to be with him like that. He was still a player, and I was not going to fall for a man who wouldn't and couldn't put me first. Nevermind the fact it was against protocol. Sighing I turned down a corridor and almost crashed into Stark who reached out to catch me.
"You look deep in thought." Stark said. I smile and run a hand through my hair.
"You know, a Captain's job is never done. I've got dozens of mission statements to read over and look into." Stark smiles back at me and leads me towards the window bay, placing a hand on my shoulders to guide me. I relax back into the touch, we've really started to get closer since being assigned to the Edogon. Not having one of my best friends around truly sucked, but I was finally getting closer to the one guy I had been wanting to delve into for years, even if it wasn't in a romantic sense.
Yet somehow, I wasn't as eager and excited about it as I thought I would be. Stark's touch didn't thrill me or send shivers down my spine--at least not the way Dune's did. And the thought irked me, Stark was the one for me, maybe I was just still too shaken up. Shaking my head I look up at Stark and into his grey eyes as he leans against the window frame.
"You've done an excellent job so far, I don't think they could have picked a more dedicated or outstanding Captain." Stark commented and he leaned down to brush my hair behind my ear. I bite my lip on the inside.
"It's definitely not a job for everyone." I replied. Stark smirks and leans in closer, his forehead touching mine.
"Would you like to meet up at the restaurant later, maybe we can have dinner and chat about somethings." My breath catches as his minty cool breath flutters across my lips.
"I'd like that." I reply. Stark rubs a finger over my bottom lip and turns away.
"I'll meet you there for o'1900 then." He calls out over his shoulder as he swaggers away. I watch his form retreating into the hallway before I let out a light laugh. Two years I'd been wanting Stark to notice me, and now that I have it I wonder if I even want it, after all it's forbidden. Giving myself a mental jolt I leave the hallway we had been in and make my way to the med-bay. It's probably just nerves glossing over my real emotions.
I enter the med-bay to find Lunara and Dyani caught up in a conversation, Dyani lacing her fingers together as Lunara shows her a diagram on her wrist holo.
"Hey Nurse Aspalaz." I said. Lunara and Dyani both look up at me, since the last time Dune was in the med-bay Dyani has been even more timid around me.
"Hey, Captain." Dyani replied, tucking some hair behind her ear. I'm not sure why she got more timid since then. I mean, I pose no threat to her relationship with Dune, her and her friend can continue to share him. Lunara looks between us before coming over to me and resting her arm across my shoulders.
"How's my little Captain doing?" Lunara asked. I shrug and look up at her, her blue eyes shining.
"Good, I thought I'd come by to chat with you. We haven't talked in ages it seems." Lunara nods and we walk over towards the pharmaceutical counter. Dyani nods at us before heading off towards the x-ray diagrams and busying herself by shifting through different files.
