Disclaimer: this is my sister ( RenegadesIsAwesome ) 's idea. We were on a plane for a really long time and she had a story idea. I fleshed it out a bit with character names, etc, and here is the resulting write up.

So this story starts out following two separate people as they encounter some pretty normal airport issues. They go through security, find their gate, and wait for their zone to board.

Being logical humans, they wait until the last call to board, figuring that they'll be sitting on the plane long enough anyway.

But then something happens: the overhead compartments on the plane are full. Now everyone who isn't on the plane has mandatory checking of their bags. All of the passengers still in the line groan.

And that's how Jule and Eric (the names of the characters) end up on a plane with almost nothing to do.

Jule and Eric end up sitting next to each other and they get to talking due to their mutual boredom. After five hours on the plane they find out more about each other then they probably know about some of their closest friends.

As far as backgrounds go, Eric and Jule work for rival technology companies, which provides some nice banter about ongoing projects. Jule works in management, organizing other people in what they're supposed to be doing. Eric is one of the coding experts at his company. Both are incredibly tech savvy.

Both are young adults who have only been in the work force for a few years, but they have been recognized for their skills and thus climbed fast in their industry.

So after their five hour flight, as both of them are pretty much exhausted of sitting, but are energized by the new friend they've made. As they exit the plane Eric stops Jule on the jetway.

They wish each other well, and they promise never to tell each other's secrets.

And then they exit the jetway. Jule turns left and Eric turns right. Both wear a subtle smile and walk with more confidence then before. Each of them gained something from their experience.

And even though both rise in their companies and are wildly successful, they will never see each other again.
