which cast members are dating?
This is a question asked everytime a new show pops up. With how close the people filming happen to be certain cast members often end up dating. But one supposed couple from this new show has really stuck out from day one. This happens to be a reality star, Charity Calliope and cousin of a world-famous child actor, Jayden Curtis. Before filming even began photos of each other were all over each other social media. While it has not been confirmed we are positive these two are dating!
the one with cancer
It's already easy to see that this show is dedicated to showing the reality of many things. And one of these is something many teens and children have to go through and often don't survive. Cancer. One of the characters in this amazing show is going to show the reality of this condition in the future of this current season. Thomas Grover played by James Darwin was revealed to have cancer last night in the first episode. We watch his reaction and the way his girlfriend who has a terminal illness of her own rushes to make sure he knows everything will be fine. We can't wait to see how this plays out.
putting disability and illness in the spotlight
As you've already noticed this show is showing a realistic take on a town dealing with a tragic event. But most towns also have people who go through things like disabilities and illnesses. Not only do they portray characters who are sick or disabled they cast actors who understand what they are going through. 3/5 of the actors who play these characters deal with a form of their conditions on a daily basis. Astrid Gracia-Day who plays Frida Harrison has been in a wheelchair her whole life. Unlike her character, she is not paralyzed below the waist. Her hops never developed meaning she could not support her legs enough to use them. It is hard for people like her to get casted in the roles they could easily get. Celia Azar who plays Arya Fard has lived with a condition that makes breathing hard. Due to her cystic fibrosis was told that she won't live to 3. Now she does things that many people never thought she would do like acting. Rella Gregory has very little vision like her character Viva Gracia. She is taking a chance in this rule as her vision could go away at any moment. These daring actresses are showing us a lot about how their conditions aren't who they are.
our narrator
This show was full of surprises right away. The second the episode started we were not only meet with a visual of three teens hoping in a car the even its self. The narrator herself was a bit of a shock. As when they introduced themselves it was odd. It ended up being the female victim of the crash; Mara King. We are guessing that it will be switching between her and Alix as the series goes on. Here's a little transport of the intro where we meet our narrator.
Narrator: I'm going to tell you a story about what happened after I died. Not all that going to heaven crap. No, the stuff that really matters in the real world. Because my name was Mara King and two months ago I died.
the drama
Let's just say there was a lot of this. We were quickly meet with the Harrison sisters fighting in the parking lot. This ended with an upset Frida being forced to enter the building. During this, we meet Sage, and through flashbacks learn she had seen the car roll down a hill and into the pond. That the girl had been ton one to call the police and even tried to pull the victims out of the car. Then we meet anger filled Dean who yells at Frida in the hallway. Flashbacks let u know that he used to date Alix before they broke up three months before the crash. Then the camera pans to our exchange students who are trying to understand what is even happening. Then we are transported to Arya's house where Thomas finds out that he is sick. Later on there I this assembly in the gym that causes a lot of issues. After that, we speed to the end of the school day and start towards the swim meet. Here we see how little Thomas cares that Frida is no longer able to swim on the team. We also see that Viva, one of the exchange students is on the team and having issues with her vision. These scenes end with a chat between Frida and Karma we don't hear much of. Then we are at a juice shop were a fight break out with Dean, Amelia and Seneca. Not long after the episode ends with the narrator talking about how you really start living when someone dies.
whats next
This episode really had us wondering what is going to happen next. Will we learn more about what happened between Dean and Alix. Why Seneca hates her sister. About what karma Smithson seems to be hiding. Really we want to know what happens next!
